Getting your FREE Bitcoin Cash from the Multibit HD Wallet

44 ratings | 3000 views
We are going to create Bitcoin Cash private key's from our Multibit HD BIP-32 Mnemonic Code. Your receiving wallets use BIP32 Derivation Path m/0'/0. You can also try the BIP32 Derivation Path m/0'/1 for your child wallets. FIX for when you don't see a Import function in the Electron wallet: 1 Open Electron Cash and enter your wallet (since that is the only option at start) 2 Create a new wallet (File\New-restore Ctrl+N) 3 Give it a name, press next 4 Chose Standard Wallet, press next 5 Use Public or private keys, press next 6 Enter here at least one of your BTC/BCC private key (This will generate the BCC wallet with the import function) 7 Within this new electron cash wallet you can add private keys just like I did in the tutorial (Wallet\Privatekeys\Import)

Hey Daytrader you are awesome, wicked video. Can you please help me create a electron cash, as I have tried numerously but it won't let me go next when I input the private key. I would be grateful for your support.

Multibit is No Longer Supported, im so sad
Bitcoin Daytrader (4 months ago)
It is not supported, so they do not update that wallets anymore, but if you already own a multibit wallet you can still use it, but it is not recommended to keep using those old wallets.

please help me to get private key of this wallet ..1FJuzzQFVMbiMGw6JtcXefdD64amy7mSCF promise I will give you a commission after I complete this. .... pleaseeeee

I'm sorry but I cannot do that, you need to have the encrypted wallet file and then decrypt the file (like I show in my tutorials), there is no way to "generate" the private key from just an address. Its kinda like I could never "generate" your private ATM pin number from just having your bank account number.

bravo!!! thx

Thank you very much, i tried a lot but this finally brought me my BCC. But when creating a new wallet, i clicked on "standard wallet" -> "use public or private keys" , because i couldn't see the option "import" in the wallet -> "private keys" menu as you showed it in the video.  What you can also do if you dont trust iancoleman is to open the website in firefox, then click on the three horizontal lines in the upper right corner -> more -> work offline
Bitcoin Daytrader (11 months ago)
Thank you very much bro for your comment, it really helps our community out. You could also scroll down and download the page and run it on an always offline pc. I never bothered using this website online, since it never stole my btc or bch that was still in the wallet, but I should have showed you all that we can do this offline too in the tutorial. Some people don't trust the tutorial even though it does work. :(

Can you make a video and do the same thing with bitcoin gold with the Multibit wallet? Also Ethererum Classic from coinbase?
Bitcoin Daytrader (11 months ago)
I suppose it is kinda the same process, but you need a good bitcoin gold wallet with a private key import function, and the private keys of your bitcoin wallet that had btc in it on the day of the hard fork. I will try to figure it out soon and make a video if I know a good wallet. (also I have to find some btcgold on the gold blockchain first)

Thank you :) this actually worked!

Awesome, you even sound a little bit surprised :D

Thank you for the great video, however, I am not sure if there is a new updated wallet for Electrum 3.0.3 but there is no option for import private keys (see 8:17 of your video). I just see Sweep and Export only. Can you maybe just either clarify or help with the Import private key process?
Tim Melton (11 months ago)
I did not use my MultBit Wallet for some time finding that it was unsupported. I then was able to email someone at support for the Multbit and they outlined what to do via a youtube video (attached) and link to download Electrum (DO NOT USE) as the replacement wallet. There is a bit more to the email; I followed what was instructed, but it was not as helpful as this video (Nice Job “Bitcoin Daytrader”)!!! The Important thing is that there is a big difference in Electrum3.0.3 (DO NOT USE), and “ElectronCash-3.0” (see picture in video 3:08). GitHub told was not much help, but someone told me not to use Electrum because of a serious issue and sent me long reason why. My friend days later then notice the “Important” message (see picture in video 3:08). This was the EUREKA moment! Both Wallets look exactly the same but they do not do the same thing. This was very important because I was not able to follow the rest of the instructions perfectly! I now could use an Import feature etc. The Updated 7 steps did really help so much for the clarification – Thank you for Responding to you viewer (now supporter). I am not sure that I could have done it with out you.
Tim Melton (11 months ago)
Thank you for you help! I now have the BCH!!! Though the collaborated efforts of everyone I thank you. Now I will post what went wrong, how I fixed it, and where the misunderstanding was in a day or two. I did just want to let you know it works, and this video is "GREAT" (and I am new to the Crypto seen). Keep up the great work - with the great videos :)

I had the same problem like you: what solved the problem was creating a new wallet, then first click on standard wallet and then i clicked on "use public or private keys" - there i entered the key he added to his notepad
Bitcoin Daytrader (11 months ago)
I'm sorry for the late reply, but I think the wallet does this when it does not recognize a valid private key. First time I accidentally added a space in front or behind the privatekey I cant remember, but I got the same result. I hope you can figure it out my friend!
Tim Melton (11 months ago)
Thank you for your reply. I am stuck on step 5 to 6. I have entered the private key and the "Next" button is grayed out. Where I am unable to move forward in creating a wallet. Instead of a standard wallet can I click on the "Import Bitcoin address or private keys"? If so, I see that Import option, but I do not see anything added to the wallet as shown in your video (like a new line in the history). I do appreciate your help.

Awesome, happy to hear that and thank you for your support!
GAVIN MILNER (1 year ago)
That was fairly helpful..  I could only get 1  % of my bitcoin cash..  The rest seems missing or i cannot locate.  Do i have to look through rows and rows of code generated ?
Bitcoin Daytrader (1 year ago)
Awesome news man!! Congrats!!
GAVIN MILNER (1 year ago)
I did it somehow  ?  I i cannot thank you enough, you are a God !!!
Bitcoin Daytrader (1 year ago)
Have you checked on the blockdozer blockchain which BCH wallets you actually have balance in? Then you know where to look for on the mnemonic code converter.
GAVIN MILNER (1 year ago)
I managed to get seven dollars in the end.  I found the other addresses with the other path but when entered no balance appears.  Thanks for trying mate.
GAVIN MILNER (1 year ago)
I will try that tomorrow and let you know as my brain has now exploded ..
Benoit Chappet (1 year ago)
Hi man, thank you for this video, i will try on my multibit hd wallet, i didn't quite grasp the look up for addresses where the bitcoin cash might be. would it be possible that the funds are on multiple public/private keys with one mnemonic phrase?
Benoit Chappet (11 months ago)
Found them, never mind. i went through all the transactions, they were on different public addresses. coleman site safe guys. cheers.
Benoit Chappet (11 months ago)
im no expert. i don't say the website is compromised. i'm sorry man, i'll go check again through my transcations on multibit wallet to look for them.
Bitcoin Daytrader (11 months ago)
I don't agree that it is weird because the transaction was mined on Aug 14, 2017 4:59:54 PM that is before the bitcoin gold hard fork. So please check the blockchain better before accusing the iancoleman website for theft ;) Regards
Benoit Chappet (11 months ago)
Electron cash works again from my home but not from my work. anyway that's solved. regarding BTG being evaporated, i'm afraid it's the case but I wanted to be sure by contacting you, cause you are the expert. So i kept the public keys last time, where the bch were from the recovery thinking the BTG were there too. so i went on the btg public keys explorer>https://btgexplorer.com/ and i checked the 3 public keys where the bch and the btc were. here they are: 1Bkr1oo6y6qGjRP5x4sj8ELGe4reQjrqSv // 19w4YNioptX9JFhts8fE1NsUbGWubbB9DU // 1NDawHxtcnUkMZJcsNJei29QqfDnTRfXGw // you will see that only two of them still has a final BTG balance. the third one has been emptied. but i didn't do anything. So i assumed it's the website caused i never exposed my private keys online except when i copied them from the website. Am I wrong ? what is weird is the 2 others are fine. please let me know, thanks again.
Bitcoin Daytrader (11 months ago)
I'm sorry I don't know why it wont connect to the network, here it does work. I've just downloaded the newest version from their website, maybe it needs an update?
