After running the btcrecover.py file, it is saying 'password searched exhausted" Does that mean that all of the passwords are wrong? Or is there an error on my end?
Bitcoin Daytrader (1 month ago)
Hi Mark, Awesome that you used my tutorial! What it means is that the password was not in found, so you should try some things different in the token.txt file. I hope you get your password back soon!
thelastrealdude (1 month ago)
Any smart gals/guys up in here with some knowledge as to how to translate this into Mac Osx-speech? I've got most of it running but I keep getting "command not fund" etc messages. I guess i'm missing something, but i'm not too good with windows-to-mac translation at all, so ...any one?
thelastrealdude (1 month ago)
Bitcoin Daytrader oh man I must’ve missed this. My head is spinning from trying to squeeze my brain cells to recall the damn password :D I suppose that’s exactly what I’m looking for! I’ll look into your instructions for the Mac tomorror. Thank you so much for your reply!
Bitcoin Daytrader (1 month ago)
I have made a tutorial for Mac. To install btcrecover: https://youtu.be/y2NdWNkBgCQ To run btcrecover: https://youtu.be/5wKGS7AY6B4 The principle is the same, instead of using a Multibit.wallet, just replace it with your wallet.dat
Bitcoin Daytrader (1 month ago)
Hi TheLastRealDude, Thank you for using my tutorial! What is it that you actually need? Do you need to run btcrecover on a mac?

Will this work on DigiByte wallet?
Bitcoin Daytrader (1 month ago)
Awesome!
Rolf Midthassel (1 month ago)
I've tested it. It works for DigiByteCore wallet as well :) Thanks man!
Bitcoin Daytrader (2 months ago)
Probably it does, because the source code of DigiByte is almost the same as bitcoin: https://github.com/digibyte/digibyte

everything goes fine until at last step showed "Password search exhausted", but I already found my password in the list before combinations. whats wrong with this? is there sth wrong with the bitcoin core wallet folder position which i define the folder place by myself.
Bitcoin Daytrader (3 months ago)
Hey Jason, Whenever you see password search exhausted, then this means that the password search is over, it tried everything possible with the tokenfile that you created. The Password could not be created, so you need to adjust your tokenfile, or you accidentally got the wrong wallet.dat file if you are 100% sure you wrote down the token file perfect. You do not have to add the bitcoin folder, just copy paste the wallet.dat in the btcrecover folder (do not copy paste a wallet.dat while bitcoin core is open this can result in a corrupt wallet.dat file)

after all install-even fresh install// on --list-gpus ...warning: DLL load failed:The specified module could not be found ....error:no supported GPU's found//my 2x 8970m on my alienware works fine getting 821 p/s ...but the gtx 1080ti desktop should get more ccm works but getting above error
Bitcoin Daytrader (5 months ago)
If it is not working that you are probably doing something wrong. It is pretty easy to use your gpu, you can find the commands for gpu-enabled in btcrecover.py --help so check that out ASAP please. Maybe this tutorial that I made clears things up for you. https://youtu.be/dYzdTzW1okU
ShiryuLugosi (5 months ago)
i get an error says "unrecognised arguments: listpass" what can it be?
Bitcoin Daytrader (5 months ago)
If you for instance made a backup first and later you changed your password than the password is not changed in the backup. To make sure you are using the most recent version of your wallet you should copy the wallet.dat from the dogecoin folder to btcrecover, of use the backup tab in the dogecoin wallet. If you already did this it could be that you simply made a mistake while typing.
ShiryuLugosi (5 months ago)
Bitcoin Daytrader another thing important to know, that’s some interesting stuff as well, uhmm i did the complete thing, the password found is the one I remember I’ve had been using lately but when i went to the wallet and tried to donate you some dogecoins it said the passphrase was incorrect, now I’m sure i was typing the password right and the last password i set years ago is there, but I don’t understand what is wrong with that wallet now, my head is going nuts right now
Bitcoin Daytrader (5 months ago)
The 168 hour limit (1 week) is to protect your pc. If your tokenfile generates to many passwords to try you should try to finetune your tokenfile. This ofcourse depends on what you remember about the password, use the wildcards (+ and ^ )to let btcrecover know what you know for sure about the password. Try to minimize the total amount of tokens, or tell btcrecover the max amount of tokens it should combine. If you have 10 tokens but want btcrecover to try a max of 5 tokens combined use the following command: C:\btcrecover-master>C:\Python27\python btcrecover.py --tokenlist token.txt --wallet wallet.dat --max-tokens 5
ShiryuLugosi (5 months ago)

hidden cow (7 months ago)
brah you should do a tutorial on alt coins like ltc and doge, we would all be eternally grateful.
Bitcoin Daytrader (7 months ago)
Hi Hidden Cow, The principle is the same, only difference is that you need to find the wallet.dat file in the doge or lite coin folder within C:\Users\username\AppData\roaming\dogecoin ;)
Gregory Carnegie (7 months ago)
What about GPU acceleration
Gregory Carnegie (7 months ago)
Bitcoin Daytrader I've just watched it. I was getting errors using my GPU but it seems that there was stuff that I didn't install. I'll try installing all of these from scratch when I get home.
Bitcoin Daytrader (7 months ago)
Hi Gregory, You could use it on bitcoin-qt, litecoin-qt (core) kind of wallets. You need to have PyOpenCL installed (we did that in Installing btcrecover for beginners) and enter the command --enable-gpu after btcrecover.py in CMD.
Jojohallbrook (7 months ago)
Where did the btcrecover.py, btcrecoveru.py, etc files come from? I followed the installation tutorial, they're not labeled as .py files!
Bitcoin Daytrader (7 months ago)
Yes, it uses your RAM to calculate the amount of passwords and the estimated time, if this exceeds something like 10mil passwords chances are you run out of memory. You should interpret that as a sign that your token.txt file needs some finetuning. If it is impossible to tune the tokenfile you could skip the counting by adding the following line (--no-eta -d)after C:\python27\python btcrecover.py --no-eta -d I would work on the tokenlist, I have made a tutorial on the subject: https://youtu.be/MKd4I5fMoNE I hope this helps you figuring out the password.
Jojohallbrook (7 months ago)
Bitcoin Daytrader Is there a chance it'll crash after too many combinations? lol
Jojohallbrook (7 months ago)
Bitcoin Daytrader Thanks! I was confused for a bit, you're correct!
Bitcoin Daytrader (7 months ago)
There is a big chance that your windows explorer has the "show file extension" in folder options of control panel unchecked. This does not have any effect in CMD, you could check this by typing: "dir" while in the btcrecover-master folder. CMD will always show the .py file extensions, so you should be able to use btcrecover anyway.
yurik dd (7 months ago)
Help please: "at least 2,900,000 passwords to try, ETA > --max-eta option (168 hours), exiting" error
yurik dd (7 months ago)
yes, thanks for answering, I already realized what you are saying, it was for the famous montecrypto game, to get the bitcoin you have to use a password of 24 tokens PS. your tutorials were very helpful
Bitcoin Daytrader (7 months ago)
Hi Yurik, It sounds like your token.txt file could use some finetuning to lower the amount of generated passwords. I've made a tutorial on the tokenlist, maybe that can help you. https://youtu.be/MKd4I5fMoNE You could also try running btcrecover.py --no-eta -d to skip the password counting, but I strongly suggest working on the token.txt file

Thank you for teaching how to use this. However, I exhausted all searches and can't find the password... it's weird because i wrote down the password a long time ago. How do you make it change each letter/number randomly?
Bitcoin Daytrader (8 months ago)
Hey Celestant, thank you for using my tutorial, maybe you can find the information in this tutorial I made about the token.txt file https://youtu.be/MKd4I5fMoNE
ssebaa89 (9 months ago)
Hello thank You for what You are doing!! Could You help me with the characters point 179, when i try to enter listpass there error os showing off. Thanks one more time.
Bitcoin Daytrader (9 months ago)
Hi Ssebaa89, Thanks for using my tutorial!! Maybe you have used --wallet and --listpass in the command, you can only use one of the two. If you are using special characters like: Ë,µ Ø you need to save the token.txt with utf-8 encoding, and add --utf8 in the btcrecover.py command line.

Hi we need a guide how to use all the tyhos, in ex. my password is kraken 840 i need to know how to type the commands with space and how to combine the digits in the token file. Would be awesome with a guide for that!
Bitcoin Daytrader (9 months ago)
Hi Swekz, Thanks for watching my tutorial! I will make a video on how to build the right token soon. If you need to create the password "kraken 840" in your token.txt you can do that with the following: + ^kraken %s %3d (+sign means try only passwords with kraken in it) (^sign means this token at the begin of password) (%s means a single space) (%3d means 3 digits in a row) I hope this helps you out my friend!
C Charles (9 months ago)
Is there a minimum amount of letters of the password when I set it? And is it case sensitive?
Zóio (8 months ago)
Thank you so much, I'll try! I hope it works!
Bitcoin Daytrader (8 months ago)
Hi mate, if you want case sensitivity typos you can do so by giving the command when running btcrecover from cmd, to add typos-case run btcrecover this way: btcrecover.py --tokenlist token.txt --wallet wallet.dat --typos-case --typos 3 where --typos 3 is the amount of letters being switched with big letters. the full list of typos options is available by running btcrecover.py --help I hope this will help you further. Regards
Zóio (8 months ago)
So how should I put in the token file those case sensitive letters? Please help!...
Bitcoin Daytrader (9 months ago)
Hi Charles, You could make the following token to try [email protected] cat 456! including wildcards + ^dog ^cat %3d %P This token.txt will only try password beginning with ^dog and ^cat combined with 3 numbers and 1 try of Pretty much any button on the keyboard (+sign means try only passwords in this row) (^sign means this token at the begin of password) (a space between 2 tokens on 1 row means try first or second but never both) (%3d means try 3 digits next to each other) (%P means 1 character of Pretty much any button) I hope this explained it a little bit better than I did in the tutorial
C Charles (9 months ago)
Thank you. One more question. My password is made by words, number and a symbol in fixed order. For example, it must be dog123. or cat456! so when I run listpass, how can I get the word-number-symbol results only?
it works with other cryptocurrencies like doge?
thanks!
Bitcoin Daytrader (9 months ago)
Hi Angel, thanks for watching my tutorial! According to the official btcrecover Github it works on Dogecoin Core and MultiDoge wallets. It works on most wallets for more information check: https://github.com/gurnec/btcrecover/blob/master/docs/INSTALL.md

Hi sorry bother again. This idea izzit available for found my dogecoin wallet passphrase? bcou when i start running my wallet.dat in my cmd. It ask my is standard bitcoin wallet? Or is it bitcoin.dat.. Helpfully can help.
jacob lee (9 months ago)
Bitcoin Daytrader thank a lof about your sharing everything, after this, if i found my password back. I would like to donate some doge to you for thank you. Cheer!
Bitcoin Daytrader (9 months ago)
ofcourse you can run it on all operation systems that support python 2.7, so Windows OSX and Linux
jacob lee (9 months ago)
Bitcoin Daytrader thank remind and now i watching install btcrecover for beginners. Maybe i hv some missing during using btcrecover. And 1 more question, izzit available for window 10?
Bitcoin Daytrader (9 months ago)
Hi Jacob, I see in the error sys.argv[1:] that means the first argument after btcrecover.py is not working, so maybe you did not save token.txt in the right place, but since you say you did maybe you saved it as Token.txt.
SouthAfrican Guy (9 months ago)
Awesome videos bru! Thanks for making them! I have a # in my password and the program seems to omit the line in the token.txt file that starts with #. Any idea how to make the program recognise this character?
Bitcoin Daytrader (9 months ago)
Wow that is awesome news mate!!! And thanks allot for your generous donation, I really appreciate it! I'm glad I could help you out my friend!
SouthAfrican Guy (9 months ago)
Dude! You rock! I just cracked the wallet and sent you 0,01BTC. Thanks again for your help!
Bitcoin Daytrader (9 months ago)
Hi SouthAfricanGuy, Thanks for using my tutorials!! When you put a # in the beginning of the line btcrecover treats that line as a comment, but when put a space in front of the # it will be used as a # in btcrecover.

Bronenosec Potemkin (9 months ago)
HEY HEY HEY ___STOP THIS SHIT ))))) http://prntscr.com/hvoea4 --- where u get this folder
Bitcoin Daytrader (9 months ago)
Hey dr who, it is not a folder it is a python file. You get it when you unzip the btcrecover-master.zip file. Sometimes windows will not show you the file extensions .py behind a file, it could be that you only see btcrecover, that is because a .py extension only means that it is a file that should be run with python. I think you can change this in the Windows Control Panel/ File Explorer Options/ View/Advanced settings/ Hide extensions for known file types

FF COOL A (9 months ago)
Dear Bitcoin Daytrader, I have a bitcoin core with couple of my bitcoins, but i don't remember my password which i made 5/6 years ago. Is there any hope to get my pw back or should i just break my laptop? Hoop to hear something from you
FF COOL A (9 months ago)
Probeer even uurtje or half uurtje tijd voor mij te maken.
Bitcoin Daytrader (9 months ago)
FF COOL A (9 months ago)
Bitcoin Daytrader (9 months ago)
Groetjess
FF COOL A (9 months ago)
And is there some way to classify some words are comfirm include in the password and some words are unknowns? So that it more accurate to find
Bitcoin Daytrader (9 months ago)
Hey Antony, I'm sorry but encryption does not work that way. Change one letter and the result of encryption or decryption is completely off. I know it is a very stressful situation not getting the token.txt right for the brute-force. I hope you can remember the right parts of your password. Regards
DFAFrozen (9 months ago)
nice tutorial!
Ma AnToNy (9 months ago)
what can i do if i know the digit of the password?
Bitcoin Daytrader (9 months ago)
Do you mean the amount of letters of the password?? If so, you can use a wildcard in your token.txt just write the following in your tokenfile: %1,2in This means % = wildcard 1,2 =between 1 and 2 characters long in = any of the digits, lower or uppercase letters You can find the full list of wildcards here: https://github.com/gurnec/btcrecover/blob/master/TUTORIAL.md

Kapzones (9 months ago)

Kapzones (9 months ago)
Damn, that was a quick answer! I will try and let you know if it worked! Thnx again!
Bitcoin Daytrader (9 months ago)
Hi Kapzones, I think that you have a too new or too old version of the electum wallet, I'm not sure I did not make btcrecover. Do you have older backups? I've seen the line of error in: https://github.com/gurnec/btcrecover/blob/master/extract-scripts/extract-electrum2-partmpk.py So maybe you could use the extract-electrum2-partmpk.py script found in the extract-scripts folder within btcrecover-master folder like I did with the download-blockchain-wallet.py in my Blockchain .info tutorial. I hope you can get it to work mate!

Dope Fiend (9 months ago)
Hey dude, one of my friends has his Bitcoins stored on the Mycelium Android wallet, and he cannot figure out how to get his wallet backup file from it. Do you know how to get it?
Dope Fiend (9 months ago)
Ok thanks, ima tell him that.
Bitcoin Daytrader (9 months ago)
I never heard of this wallet before, so I downloaded it and just gave it a try. In this wallet when you want to backup, it will give you your personal backup seed. (Mnemonic code) As you might already know the Mnemonic code written down on paper placed somewhere safe next to your passport and other important documents is one of the best ways to back up your wallet nowadays. The wallet.dat backup file is kinda the same thing but digitally encrypted. (I personaly think its safer to have it on paper than a copy on your pc) If you can't access the backup phrase you need to set a pin first. If you realy want a backup I think that you could always just copy the entire wallet app folder (and maybe some internal storage for the app)to an external harddrive.
