Canada has lifted a drinking water ban in the west of the country. There had been a potentially toxic mining spill in the area. A mining accident sent polluted water and silt gushing into rivers, lakes and streams. As Kristiaan Yeo reports, the incident is raising questions about safety standards at Canadian mines.

Welcome back to Gold Rush! Gold Rush: The Game is a Gold Mining Simulator based off of Discovery's Gold Rush reality show. In this video we get our biggest payout yet! So much so that we have enough money for a major upgrade next time. I hope you enjoyed this episode of Gold Rush, thanks for watching and liking. Gold Rush Playlist: http://bit.ly/GoldRushPlaylist Download Gold Rush on Steam: http://bit.ly/GoldRushDG Gold Rush Overview: Those of you who have never dreamt about finding a gold nugget, please raise your hand. Ok, now, gather around, because I’m about to tell you something. The rest of you can just enjoy this experience, because there is nothing I can tell you to make you even more interested. It’s just a “dream come true” for all of us, right? Gold Rush allows you to discover the tough experience of gold mining. You start with just a few bucks, but with passing days, you become the wealthiest man in Alaska. We created a big, detailed world with four unique gold mining claims. On each, you will find a fully deformable terrain. Each fragment of our world has its own background story you can discover in spare time. Our main goal was to create a high-fidelity simulation. You will spend a lot of time in the excavator, as it is the main gold mining tool, so with that in mind, we spend the majority of our time giving you the best possible experience. There is no campaign in our game. Instead, we decided, you will go directly into Sandbox mode, where you will not be constrained by anything. If you ever feel lost or you don't know what to do, press TAB key and check the journal and DIGTube for additional info. Remember, nobody can work all day, all night. Even if you’d like to, the hard work of gold miners is often hampered by the force of nature. Difficult weather conditions can easily spoil the machines and stop the extraction for a long time, not to mention the winter, when you can’t dig at all. - Support Draegast Around The Internet - ☆My Website: https://www.draegast.com/ ☆Discord Community: http://bit.ly/DraeDiscord ☆Facebook: http://bit.ly/DraeFace ☆Twitch: http://bit.ly/DraeTwitch ☆Twitter: http://bit.ly/DraeTwitter Intro: Odd Chap: Sound 102 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lUtZ_MFvWYk Outro: JAWN https://soundcloud.com/jawnmusic/

Travel halfway around the world to hunt for a “gold-medal double” on giant Marco Polo rams with Guy Eastman in Tajikistan. Eastman and family friend, Bryan Martin hunt a giant world record class marco polo ram near the border of Afghanistan. To harvest a giant marco polo ram in Asia, hunters must overcome extreme altitudes, barren terrain, and must match wits with one of the most elusive and cunning big game animals on the planet. Hunting for giant Pamir rams is not for the faint of heart, and to hunt them on foot in a spike camp at 16,500 feet during November is more than most hunters can muster. Watch to see how these two mountain hunters challenge themselves in one of the toughest climates on earth to try and bring home one of the largest and most coveted big game prizes in all of the world. This Marco Polo sheep hunt is a dream three generations in the making for the Eastman family. Nearly 60 years in the making, Beyond the Grid TV heads to the nearly uninhabitable Pamir mountains of Tajikistan in this episode. Want more from Beyond the Grid? Order my book today! ARE U OK? http://geni.us/sva4iUY PRE-ORDER MY BOOK NOW! http://bit.ly/2s0mULy My video announcement for more info: https://youtu.be/FuR9OTcZCu4 Today I share 8 ways you can get the most out of your time in therapy! 1. Be picky: When deciding on who you want to work with, don’t just settle for the first person you see. Know that you should feel easily connected with your therapist. In the same way you would a new friend, and you should feel like they are on your team, working with you towards your goals. This means they should remember your name, your goals, and check up on how well you are moving towards them. 2. Have an idea of why you wanted to come / what you want to gain or get rid of: Obviously we don’t need to know exactly what we need to talk about or do each session, but we do need to know what symptoms or issues we want to talk about. 3. Be honest: I know this one can be really hard, and we can struggle to talk about things we may have never talked about before. But do your best! Even if your best is just telling them that you have some things you would like to talk about, but don’t feel ready. Just be as open as you can about your process so they can help you when you need it. 4. Set goals: Even if that goal is just to shower that week, or to make it to therapy and talk openly. Just make sure that you are working towards something and you have check ins with your therapist about your goals and how they are coming along. 5. Set boundaries and uphold them: I had to add this to the list because many of us struggle with attachment to your therapist, or worry how much is too much communication in between sessions. Remember, your therapist should not be at your beck and call, because they have a life too!! And if you are relying on them emailing, calling or texting you back all the time in between sessions, then maybe you need a higher level of care. The entire goal of therapy is to get you to a point where you don’t need it anymore.between your sessions, so you gain confidence and are able to grow. 6. Do your homework!: If we aren’t putting in the work outside of therapy you are missing out on a lot of time! I mean think about it. You are only in therapy for one or two hours a week, and on your own for the rest. Make the most of that time. 7. Take responsibility for yourself: I know this may seem obvious, but you would be surprised how many times a patient of mine will get angry at me because they aren’t getting any better. Meanwhile they are not doing any of their homework, canceling sessions last minute, and not sharing much when they do come in. You are the creator of your future, you are the one that is going to have to do all of the hard work. 8. No judgement: Therapy is hard work! Trust me, I know! Ignoring everything and just pushing through can be a lot easier in some ways, but putting in the time and effort is the only way to start feeling better. So be patient, kind, and gentle with yourself as you navigate your path to recovery. You will be trying out new tools and techniques for communication and relationships, and it will be hard at first, and you may fall back into old habits. Just remember that you didn’t form these habits overnight, so it’s going to take awhile for you to form new ones. His distinct and lively Haida Manga style engages perfectly with this inspirational story that encourages every individual to act on behalf of the worlds limited and precious resources. http://mny.ca/ Athlii Gwaii: The Line at Lyell (46:30 min.) 2003 Part of the Ravens and Eagles: Haida Art series Jeff Bear/Marianne Jones, Ravens and Eagles Productions In the fall of 1985, a small but resolute troupe of Haida elders journeyed by helicopter to Athlii Gwaii (Lyell Island) to join their young counterparts in a stand against clearcutting. Industrial invasion in the remote archipelago had gone too far. Ancient cedar giants and rare spruce trees—lifeblood of Haida art and culture—had been leveled indiscriminately for too long. Buoyed by their courageous Haida elders, protesters united in peaceful resistance. A total of 72 people were arrested, but their tactics garnered global attention and won change: in 1987, the government established the Gwaii Haanas Park Reserve/Haida Heritage Site. http://www.movingimages.ca/catalogue/Art/re_athliigwaii.html

Webcast sponsored by the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre and hosted by the Museum of Anthropology. "Assert, Defend, Take Space: Aboriginal Youth Conference on Identity, Activism and Film" was a day-long conference on issues of concern to Aboriginal youth. Artists from the Claiming Space: Voices of Urban Aboriginal Youth exhibition were joined by young filmmakers and activists from across Canada. Building off of the screened films, panelists discussed themes of youth identity and politics, the objectification of Indigenous women, and environmentalism and youth activism. "Claiming Space: Voices of Urban Aboriginal Youth" is an exhibition that looked at the diverse ways urban Aboriginal youth are asserting their identity and affirming their relationship to both urban spaces and ancestral territories. Unfiltered and unapologetic, over 20 young artists from across Canada, the US, and around the world define what it really means to be an urban Aboriginal youth today. In doing so they challenge centuries of stereotyping and assimilation policies. This exhibit will leave visitors with the understanding that today's urban Aboriginal youth are not only acutely aware of the ongoing impacts of colonization, but are also creatively engaging with decolonizing movements through new media, film, fashion, photography, painting, performance, creative writing and traditional art forms. Artists in the exhibition include Alison Bremner (Tlingit), Deanna Bittern (Ojibwe), Jamie Blankenship-Attig (Nlaka’pamux, Secwepemc, Nez Perce, Muskoday Cree), Kelli Clifton (Tsimshian), Jeneen Frei Njootli (Vuntut Gwitchin), Ippiksaut Friesen (Inuit), Clifton Guthrie (Tsimshian), Cody Lecoy (Okanagan/Esquimalt), Arizona Leger (Fijian, Samoan, Tongan, Maori), Danielle Morsette (Stó:lō /Suquamish), Ellena Neel (Kwakwaka'wakw/Ahousaht), Zach Soakai (Tongan, Samoan), Diamond Point (Musqueam), Crystal Smith de Molina (Git’ga’at), Nola Naera (Maori), Kelsey Sparrow (Musqueam/Anishinabe), Cole Speck (Kwakwaka'wakw), Rose Stiffarm ((Siksika Blackfoot, Chippewa Cree, Tsartlip Saanich, Cowichan, A'aninin, Nakoda, French, & Scottish), Taleetha Tait (Wet’suwet’en), Marja Bål Nango (Sámi, Norway), Harry Brown (Kwakwaka'wakw), Anna McKenzie (Opaskwayak Cree, Manitoba), Sarah Yankoo (Austrian, Scottish, Algonquin, Irish and Romanian), Raymond Caplin (Mi’gmac), Emilio Wawatie (Anishanabe) and the Northern Collection (Toombz/Shane Kelsey [Mohawk], and the Curse/Cory Golder [Mi’maq]). Free News Sharing and On-Line Art Gallery http://www.ciactivist.org FEATURE: The 2016 Fire and Rain art project that began in early January was inspired by news stories on wildfires that burned throughout Western Canada in 2015. Paintings were displayed outdoors publicly throughout Edmonton and their stories shared on YouTube. I used art from the beginning to defend freedom of expression on the Alberta Legislature grounds when it was verbally banned 3 times by Legislature officials. Some of the YouTubes published shared how the wildfires and flooding that followed affected Albertans, their communities and the environment. I hope my art and the stories shared will inspire us to contemplate the calamities in Alberta of 2016 as a collective and together help each other find ways and better solutions to save our planet and our children's future. Presented by Chief Bellegarde, Chief of the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations Saskatchewan is in the middle of an unprecedented resource boom. With oil and gas in the south, potash in central Saskatchewan and uranium in the North, along with promising mineral plays in various locations,Saskatchewan's economy is growing rapidly. First Nations are determined to benefit from the boom, as Treaty Peoples with strong ties to the land and with promises from government that we will benefit from development. With duty to consult and accommodate requirements in place, Saskatchewan First Nations have become national leaders in working out appropriate collaboration and impact and benefit agreements with companies and governments. Much more can be done. More First Nations can be employed on the resource projects. Greater care can be taken to protect our traditional lands and protect our people from harm. There are important business opportunities for First Nations companies that remain to be developed. First Nations will not stand in the way of properly managed development that is based on consultations and agreements with our communities, but nor will First Nations agree to open-ended development strategies that do not return a fair share of the benefits from resource development with the Saskatchewan First Nations.

Keynote speaker Dr. Anton Treuer closes out Inver Hills Community College's Student/Faculty Conference. This year's theme was Flourishing in a World of Disasters. In this talk Dr. Treuer discusses some of the disasters visited upon American Indians, as well as how the effects of those disasters continue to linger even today. What makes this talk so powerful is that it does not simply attempt to lay blame, rather, Dr. Treuer offers possible solutions for growth and the possibility of authentic global flourishing. (NOTE: the camera needed reset every 30 minutes, which is why there are three "two second" breaks. NO content was lost in those, and the battery died right as Dr. Treuer cited Chris Rock and how racist does one have to be to turn down a day off of work just because it celebrates a black person. The talk ended right after that, so nothing of import was lost.) Thank you to all that helped make this happen!

It was very interesting but also kind of sad to see these two mama's and their babies interact. I was first watching them from the roof (not mine) where I was shoveling snow, but then jumped down to get my camera. The bigger mama is understandably trying to take care of her family, but bullying the smaller mama and baby at well. I highly doubt the smaller pair will make the winter, but is was still fascinating to watch their relationships. Three moose snoozing in the sunshine on one warm day recently. They sure seemed to be enjoying the warmth! ******************************************************************* New here? Hello! I'm Ariel. I live off grid in a tiny house (yes, one of those only 170 square feet and on wheels kind) in the western mountains of Wyoming. I split my own wood for heat, carry my water by hand, and attempt to grow as much of my own food as I can between the weather and wildlife here. Check out my many tiny house videos, like this one, (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2U53EnSVKLQ) also on this channel if you are interested in more about that. I enjoy the stunning sceanery and wildlife that I am surrounded by on a daily basis. As a child, I was fortunate enough to be able to spend much of my free time exploring and playing in the woods. Little has changed now that I'm older I suppose. I moved to a place with a bigger woods and still enjoy spending my time outside hiking, exploring, and photographing the natural world around me. Photography fascinates me. It is almost like a time machine, allowing a fraction of a moment in time to be frozen and shared later. Things that only last seconds or less, like a rainbow, relationships between people, the sunrise or sunset light that is constantly changing, or those fleeting interactions with wild things. It also creates a visual journal of my life. For me, photography is a mostly self taught hobby with the assistance of some very skilled friends. As the eldest of seven children who grew up in a homeschooling family I had the opportunity, not always appreciated at the time, to learn to do quite a bit of work. I've enjoyed a wide range of jobs, everything from greenhouses and flower arranging to wilderness therapy with teens, to milking cows. Mostly, I enjoy doing the kinds of things that I think provide a real service or value to others. Some of my other hobbies include backpacking, hosting people, cooking, preserving food, anything to do with nutrition, Crossfit, skiing, bouldering, reading, journalling, and sitting around a fire and talking to my close friends. But photography is certainly one of my hobbies that gives me a great deal of pleasure. And sometimes, in between shooting photos, I take a few videos of the beauty I encounter as well. For more of my photography follow me on Facebook at facebook.com/ArielCelestePhotography. Or to order prints or photo gifts please visit ArielCelestePhotography.zenfolio.com.

The Osage ballet, Wahzhazhe, is a contemporary ballet that brings together unique and diverse qualities of Oklahoma history and culture: a reverence for classical ballet that was the legacy of two famous Osage ballerinas, Maria and Marjorie Tallchief, and the richness of Osage traditional music, dance, and textile arts. The creative set designs transform the stage into accurate depictions of Osage lifestyles and the costumes are created to appear as the traditional tribal clothing that was worn during the past 200 years. The ballet depicts the history of the Osage people: their removal from their homelands, the boarding-school era, the discovery of oil on their reservation, which lead to great wealth and tragedy, and the celebration of Osage life today. Wahzhazhe is produced by Randy Tinker Smith and choreographed by Jenna Smith, both of Osage descent. Roman Jasinski acted as adviser on the project. This performance was recorded on March 23, 2013 in the Rasmuson Theater of the National Museum of the American Indian.

Webcast sponsored by the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre and in partnership with the Faculty of Land and Food Systems, with support from the UBC First Nations House of Learning, the UBC Department of History and Kloshe Tillicum (Network Environments for Aboriginal Health Research). Shortly after WWII, when knowledge about nutrition was still sparse, scientists in Canada took advantage of already malnourished aboriginal communities by using them as research subjects to investigate the effects of different diets and dietary supplements. Evidence of these government-run experiments was brought to the forefront by food historian and UBC History alumnus Ian Mosby, and the research has gained widespread recognition. Sometimes the experiments involved decreasing food intake or withholding supplements. Hundreds of indigenous people across Canada were included in the experiments, of which they had no knowledge, and many of them were children in the Indian Residential School system. The fallout from this unethical treatment is still having an effect today. Join us for a panel discussion about this distressing era in Canadian history and find out how UBC’s Faculty of Land and Food Systems is working to address issues such as access to healthy, traditional food; food security for all; and land stewardship.
