Donna welcomes you to this ca.1856 Bank with its original character. The Bank was used as the towns primary Bank for 100 years from 1890. Since then it has served as a Bed & Breakfast home.
Today, this tranquil guesthouse is the result of a beautiful makeover in the 1990’s and is renowned for its views, relaxed atmosphere and warm hospitality. Offering views of the town centre and surrounding farmland, this is the perfect place to spoil yourself for a night, a weekend, or a week. All your needs are catered for, including a cooked or continental breakfast in the morning, 4-wheel drive tours, hire cars and bus tours easily arranged by nearby tourist information office.
Guest bedrooms have been kept to a maximum of five to ensure comfort and privacy. Each room offers delightful decor reminiscent of a gentler time. The deluxe rooms are particularly romantic with their fabulous four-poster beds and ensuite bathrooms making it a perfect hideaway.
Three of the five bedrooms have fire places, original polished floors and all have ensuites. Heating and cooling is provided in all rooms.
Located in the heart of the Southern Finders Rangers. The small township of some 280 people nestled on a beautiful spot at the foot of the glorious Mt Remarkable. Melrose has an abundance of wildlife, emu and kangaroo are seen in and around the town most evenings.
The cottage-style gardens feature roses and older style cottage plants and Australian native shrubs which attract scores of bird life. kookaburra and other native Australian birds. Simply sitting on the verandah, enjoying the views is a pleasant and relaxing experience.

Melrose is the oldest town in the Flinders Ranges. It is in the shadow of Mount Remarkable, 265 km north of Adelaide, and the town was once named "Mount Remarkable". At the 2011 census, Melrose had a population of 406. The first European explorer in the area was Edward John Eyre in 1840, closely followed by settlers coming to farm the area. Copper was discovered and mining started in 1846, but it was not economic, and ceased in 1851. The mine was opened again three more times, the latest closure was in 1917.
