Sometimes what we think is the best way to work, isn't, and that's why video editors around the world use ripple trimming to speed up editing. If you've been manually trimming your clips, then deleting gaps and moving clips around, you're going to love how Premiere Pro can make all that an automatic function. 37 "Need to Use" Keyboard Shortcuts for Premiere Pro

18:07
Read the full show notes at: http://www.DIYVideoGuy.com/tv14 Video editing already takes long enough, so let's speed things up with some of my favorite keyboard shortcuts and save you some time. In this video I show you 37 different keyboard shortcuts I use while editing videos. Now, I'm going to be showing you these shortcuts in Adobe Premiere Pro CC, but if you're using another video editing app like Final Cut Pro X, iMovie, or any other program, many of the same principles will apply to you as well. This is one of my longer videos, but I wanted to make sure I broke down how I use each shortcut and demonstrated how you could too. Also, I've created custom keyboard shortcuts that I've pulled from other video editors I've learned from in-person and online, so these aren't the default shortcuts built into Premiere, but if you're just getting started, practice learning the built-in shortcuts first by hovering over buttons before clicking them or seeing the command to the right of the action in the drop-down menus. Don't try to implement all of these at once. Just pick a handful to start using and once those become a habit, add in some more. The less you use your mouse while editing the faster you'll get. You can watch the video above, directly on YouTube, or through an iTunes Video Podcast. Here's a full list of all the shortcuts I mention in the video. The Timeline: 1. Pull-up keyboard shortcuts = Command+Option+K 2. Zoom to Sequence = \ 3. Zoom in = Z 4. Zoom out = Shift+Z 5. Reverse play = J (Shuttle Left) 6. Pause = K 7. Play or Speed-up = L (Shuttle Right) 8. 5 shortcuts in Premiere Pro you must use | Cinecom.net

02:51
Learn how to use some more unpopular shortcuts in Adobe Premiere Pro that will enhance your video editing workflow a lot better. Shortcuts or short keys allow you to edit a lot faster and more accurate. The more shortcuts you use, the better a workflow can be. But of course it's not so convenient to learn all the hundreds of shortcuts, so that's why we've picked out 5 actions which will enhance your workflow a lot more. We start with a very nice shortcut that does multiple actions with one press of a button. To trim off the beginning of a clip you need to press Q. It will not only remove the first piece before your play head but also close the gap. The same goes for the last part, which you need to press W for. The next shortcut is something we need to create first. From the keyboard shortcuts menu we can assign one for "Bypass Lumetri Color Effects". When holding down that key you can see the before and after from your color grading. Often looking for a clip you already used? You could search your project window, but there's an easier way. Just select the desired clip form your timeline and press the shortcut F. It will open the source clip inside the source monitor form which you can select a new part now. The fourth shortcut is a combination of the Alt + arrow keys. This will nudge your clips within time or even within different channels. It's much more accurate than using your mouse. To nudge by bigger steps also hold down the shift key when doing so. And finally we'll have a look to faster zoom and scroll through your timeline. You can simply use your scroll wheel to scroll, but you can also hold the Alt key while doing so to zoom in your timeline. The action will follow the position of your mouse pointer. βœ… FROM THE VIDEO Article β–Ί https://www.cinecom.net/tutorials/5-shortcuts-premiere-pro-must-use/ πŸ‘• Like our T-shirts? β–Ί https://cinecom.info/Merch βœ… OUR EQUIPMENT Shop at Adorama (ad) β–Ί https://cinecom.info/Adorama My Custom GH5 Camera Rig β–Ί https://www.cinecom.net/gear/custom-panasonic-gh5-camera-rig/ Cheap Green Key Equipment β–Ί https://www.cinecom.net/gear/chroma-key-essentials/ All the Film Gear we use β–Ί https://www.cinecom.net/gear βœ… LETS CONNECT! Adobe Premiere Pro Quick Tutorial - Ripple Delete All

06:12
Frustrated that Adobe Premiere Pro doesn't have a 'Ripple Delete All' option? Well, there's a neat little trick that you can use to do just that! A lot of editing tools have a 'ripple edit' mode. Any gap that you create by deleting sections of your video clips are automatically collapsed to retain a seamless sequence of video. Adobe Premiere Pro does not have a ripple edit mode and there is no way to automatically delete the gaps created by cutting up your clips. Ideally, you'd use the advanced editing tools that I covered in my last Premiere Pro tutorial to avoid ending up with a sequence that contains a lot of gaps to begin with. However, sometimes it just happens. And then what? In this tutorial I will show you how to use a little trick I found online (thank you to whoever came up with it!) to essentially perform a 'Ripple Delete All' action in Premiere Pro and delete any number of gaps in one hit! ------------------------------ MY GEAR ------------------------------ MAIN CAMERA - http://amzn.to/2rRkGzg (Canon 5D Mark III) MAIN LENS - http://amzn.to/2rRfX0M (Canon EF 24-70mm II USM) VLOGGING CAMERA - http://amzn.to/2ssqgtm (Canon G7X) CHEAPER BUT GREAT - http://amzn.to/2seov29 (Canon S120) BEST 4K DRONE - http://bit.ly/2ssRu33 (DJI Mavic Pro) RECOMMENDED BUNDLE - http://bit.ly/2sefwhG (DJI Fly More Combo) CHEAPER & SMALLER - http://bit.ly/2rmecFj (DJI Spark) AUDIO RECORDER - http://amzn.to/2rhmz9U (Zoom H5) CHEAPER BUT GREAT - http://amzn.to/2r9zOpf (Zoom H2N) SHOTGUN MIC - http://amzn.to/2tbYUEe (Zoom SGH-6) ON CAMERA MIC - http://amzn.to/2r9vXZi (Rode Videomic) HEADPHONES - http://amzn.to/2r9K6p8 (Audio Technica ATH-M50X) TRAVEL TRIPOD - http://amzn.to/2s29yyl (Manfrotto MKCOMPACTLT) ------------------------------ MY SOFTWARE ------------------------------ ADOBE CREATIVE CLOUD - http://bit.ly/2sjvyaA HITFILM PRO - http://bit.ly/2steXRz ------------------------------ FOLLOW ME ------------------------------ YOUTUBE - https://www.youtube.com/surfacedstudio FACEBOOK - https://www.facebook.com/surfacedstudio TWITTER - https://www.twitter.com/surfacedstudio INSTAGRAM - https://www.instagram.com/surfacedstudio PATREON - https://www.patreon.com/surfacedstudio GOOGLE PLUS - http://plus.google.com/+SurfacedStudio ------------------------------ FRIENDLY DISCLAIMER ------------------------------ Some of the links above are affiliate links and I will earn a small commission if you purchase through them. Those are the shortcuts that I'm hoping to go over in this video. Chances are if you are seasoned in Premiere, you know some of these, but hopefully I can shed some light on some that you didn't know, including some custom keyboard shortcuts that I set up. Ripple Trim Next/Prev edit to Playhead - Premiere Pro CC Keyboard shortcut

00:22
38 Premiere Pro CC Keyboard shortcuts for faster editing. http://www.avidil.net/38-keyboard-shortcuts-premiere-pro-cc-faster-editing/ Ripple trims the previous or next edit point to the Playhead. You do not need to select an edit point to perform a ripple trim to playhead edit. Like the Extract command, a ripple trim to playhead edit does not affect clips on other tracks that are locked or not sync-locked, but all other tracks will have the region ripple-deleted. Sequence In and Out points are not affected. Note: A ripple trim to the playhead at the beginning or ending of a clip is sometimes called "Top and Tail" in editing terminology. How To Trim Video In Adobe Premiere Pro CC Timeline

06:00
How To Trim Video In Adobe Premiere Pro CC Timeline You may decide to change the timing for a section of a clip already added to a sequence. Adjusting the start and end times of a selected clip is called Trimming. What you learned: Trim clips on the Timeline You can extend or shorten the part of the clip included in the sequence, as long as there is footage available in the original clip. A small white triangle on either end of the sequence clip tells you if you’re already using the first or last frame of the original material. Drag the ends of clips as if you were resizing a window to extend or shorten them by trimming. You won’t be able to trim a clip over an adjacent clip. Use the Ripple Edit tool to trim clips without leaving a gap or to push adjacent clips later in the sequence. Use the Rolling Edit tool to adjust the timing of an edit between two clips, extending one clip by the same amount you shorten the other. To prevent unwanted changes, you can lock a whole track by clicking the padlock icon on the track header. Remember to choose the Selection tool when you have finished using the trimming tools. Once clicked, the drop down will present three title creation choices: Default Still, Default Roll or Default Crawl. For this exercise, click Default Still and the "New Title" box will appear. It is in this box you will name your title. We have chosen to name our new title, "Harbor" since it will be inserted over a video clip of a harbor. Click "okay." A "Title Box" appears and this is where you will create the actual title words. Position your mouse over the "T" to activate the "Title Tool" and click. When the "Title Tool" is activated, position your cursor over the main screen and click. This will activate the space which allows you to begin typing the word, "Harbor." The word "Harbor" will default to a font style which, in our case, is not the correct font for our purpose. So we will click the "Font Family" drop down found at the right of the main screen and select a new font. When clicked, it will change to the desired style. The font also defaults to a 100% size which is bigger than what we would like. So we will make that change as well. To discover how to manipulate font size, add drop shadow, change the fill color and text position, watch the video tutorial found in this post. You will be creating titles in minutes.

Media Composer - Basic Cut/Add Edit and Trim

05:33
This video shows how you would make a basic cut (add an edit) to a track in Media Composer and then edit/trim that track. This video uses Avid Media Composer 7 running on Windows. In Avid Media Composer, there are more ways to trim than are shown in the video, but this will give you the basic idea of how Media Composer works using the Add Edit button and the Smart Tools. In Avid Media Composer, something that can be confusing for new users is how to make a cut in their video. If you are coming from other NLE's, you may be use to using a Razor tool to place a cut in your video. Well, in Avid Media Composer, there is no Razor tool. This may seem odd at first, but the way Media Composer works is actually much more convenient. In Media Composer you use what is called the ADD EDIT button. You will see in the video how to map the shortcut to your Keyboard and then add your edit/cut. Then we move on to the basic way you can trim your video by using the Smart Tools. This video should help get you up to speed on how to perform these basic operations in Media Composer. If you enjoy this video, please Like and Subscribe - and there will be more Media Composer related videos. If you would like to learn more about Avid Media Composer or get your free trial of Media Composer, go to www.avid.com/MediaComposer

TOP 6 Basic SHORTCUTS that I use and You Should Use on Editing: If you are editing a film, video or something else you just need to use shortcuts. Adobe Premiere Shortcuts just gives you more time and nerves to edit more (and more) fluently because you don't need to use your time to do countless of frustrating moves with your mouse. I have edited my first years basically without shortcuts (excluding selection- and razor -tools) BUT as I got used to use more shortcuts on different points on my editing journey I am now very thankful of that I use shortcuts. The shortcuts makes your editing-life easier. TO WHO IS THIS VIDEO FOR: This video is more for junior editors (than to advanced editors) because I think that editors with years and years of experience -- they might have got into editing with shortcuts, but beginners maybe doesn't have (yet). I am telling (in this video) about my favourite shortcuts that I tend to use while editing with Premiere. MY TOP 6 SHORTCUTS ARE: 1. Selection Tool 2. Razor Tool 3. Track Selection Forward Tool 4. Slip Tool 5. & 6. Zoom In / Out Tools ⚠️⚠️ The Premiere Selection tool and the Razor tool works best together (cut with Razor and --- then move with Selection tool). Slip Tool is good for watching the content within a cut -- you DON'T need to use time to extend or make your cut smaller with selection tool while You can use Slip tool. ONE thing that I want to make clear: If you haven't already, MOVE all your ZOOMING work from mouse to KEYBOARD (shortcuts). THIS will save you tons of time, I can say that from experience. Hope you will get some ideas on how to make your editing faster and fluent in the future! πŸ‘‰ Here are links to my latest big tutorial series on β€œHow to make a DCP (Digital Cinema Package) for free”: PART 3: How to test DCP works on PC (with NeoDCP): https://youtu.be/-RiNvzC8xn0 PART 2: How to make the DCP with DCP-o-matic: https://youtu.be/QsGmtB4wjTw PART 1: INTRODUCTION VIDEO: https://youtu.be/FjWcBc9R1rA Thank you very much for watching! ❀ I appreciate that.
