Boelens Python research in the field! w/Ari Flagle

01:43
Ari Flagle shares what it takes to conduct research in the field. Please consider contributing for his upcoming trip. All Proceeds from the shirts goes straight to Ari. This enables him to continue his research in New Guinea. Shirts: https://www.customink.com/fundraising/boelens-python-research-conservation?ref=copy-link_social_desktop-campaign-page-share-top-v3&utm_campaign=desktop-campaign-page-share-top-v3&utm_content=boelens-python-research-conservation&utm_medium=social&utm_source=copy-link&side=front&type=1&zoom=false Ari says on his site " I have been truly blessed to have been able to travel to this incredible place called New Guinea for 10 years. I have developed life lasting relationships with local people that work hands on with these incredible animals. My main focus regarding this species is to gain a better understanding of this snakes natural behavior and ecology. It has only been within the last few years that we have been making positive leaps towards greater captive success. My goal is to be able to utilize the wild behavior and data to help strengthen our captive understanding of the species making sure we are doing everything we can correctly while we are caring for them. The information that can be used with our animals that are currently in the hands of private collectors and professional facilities can be the starting point of success for the future. This in turn will help in elevating excessive over collection of Boelens pythons. Currently there are three areas that these snakes are being collected from. The prominent spine of mountains referred to as the New Guinea Highlands, dominates the geography of the island, stretching over 1,600 km (1,000 mi) from the 'head' to the 'tail'. Boelens pythons in my opinion aren’t at risk at this specific moment of disappearing from New Guinea. However that could that could change at anytime. The areas that they inhabit have unfortunate interest from mining and deforestation. This is more of a threat to the species then collection in my opinion. There are lots of areas for isolated population to reside that are inaccessible to people to reach.. I am also working with the local people and giving them a better understanding of why not to over collect the snake and how important it is to not explote them. I have been traveling to different sites observing nesting areas and collecting basic population assessments." https://www.projectblackpython.org/ https://www.facebook.com/portcitypythons Instagram @portcitypythons Twitter @portcitypythons http://www.Portcitypythons.com [email protected] CHECK OUT OUR PODCAST: https://www.facebook.com/https://soundcloud.com/joe-phelan-194475994 Some of my favorite reptile supplies! Red coral is the literal foundation of many Mediterranean ecosystems, and provides critical habitat for fish and other marine life. Harvesting by humans, pollution, ocean acidification, and warming waters all threaten the coral, which is now endangered. Efforts are underway to help preserve it, with some jewelry companies refusing to sell coral products, and the Catalan government will enact a decade-long moratorium on fishing starting in 2018. ➡ Subscribe: http://bit.ly/NatGeoSubscribe About National Geographic: National Geographic is the world's premium destination for science, exploration, and adventure. 05:47
VO The government’s monthly meeting discusses a number of fundamental issues including the prevention of Ebola virus INTRO: The government's monthly meeting has discussed a number of fundamental issues ranging from the prevention of Ebola virus to socio-economic development and legislation. The meeting was held in Vientiane from August 25-27, chaired by Prime Minister Thongsing Thammavong and attended by other cabinet members. STORY: Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, the government spokesperson Madame Bounpheng Mounphosay said those at the meeting agreed for relevant sectors to have measures in place to prevent Ebola including tightening border immigration. The government has reiterated that it's critical to publicise more information to ensure everyone in society understands and contributes to the government's prevention efforts. Ebola virus disease is a disease of humans and other primates caused by an ebola virus and results in both internal and external bleeding. The disease has a high risk of death, killing between 50 percent and 90 percent of those infected with the virus. EVD was first identified in Sudan and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The virus is spread via contact with blood or bodily fluids from an infected person but cannot be contracted merely through the air. According to the government spokesperson Madame Bounpheng Mounphosay, during the meeting, cabinet members gave their input to the draft decree for the implementation of socio-economic development and budget plan for 2014-15. They agreed to try and accomplish GDP growth of at least 7.5 percent in 2014-15 and ensure the country has foreign reserves the equivalent of at least five months of imports. The government approved an amendment of a decree related to cheques, aiming to encourage more use of cheques instead of cash and reducing the cost of printing banknotes. The decree defines the use of cheques and processing of cheque payments. In addition, the government approved the amendment of healthcare law aiming to better develop healthcare services for multi-ethnic Lao people. The government advised relevant sectors to gather more input before submitting to the National Assembly for debate. The meeting agreed in principle about the draft law related to the management of alcohol beverages aiming to regulate the sale, purchasing and advertisement of alcohol beverages. In addition, the meeting approved a draft law related to immigration management and the management of foreign nationals in Laos. The meeting agreed to tighten the immigration system while facilitating those coming to Laos for business and tourism purposes. The meeting agreed in principle to a draft law related to the management of foreign currencies in Laos by defining principles and measures for currency business aiming to promote trade ahead of the Asean Economic Community. Prime Minister Thongsing has advised sectors to work harder in the areas of their responsibility including minimising social ills such as drug use and trafficking, road accidents, illegal logging and illegal mining excavation. The PM also urged relevant sectors to enhance their efforts to deal with diseases including Ebola, malaria, dengue fever before touching upon the preparation for opening of the new school fiscal year.

3,000-Year-Old Donkey Dung: A Clue to King Solomon's Mines? | National Geographic

01:41
Archaeologists made an amazing discovery at an ancient mining camp in Israel: 3,000-year-old donkey dung! Preserved by the arid climate, the dung is solid evidence that the site dates to the 10th century B.C., which, according to the Bible, was the time of King Solomon's reign. Was this mining camp one of the sources of Solomon's famous wealth? ➡ Subscribe: http://bit.ly/NatGeoSubscribe About National Geographic: National Geographic is the world's premium destination for science, exploration, and adventure. Ancient Wild Dog Population Feared Extinct, Now Captured on Camera | National Geographic

01:27
The New Guinea highland wild dog was feared extinct in the wild after nearly half a century without a confirmed sighting. But after a pawprint and other possible signs in 2016, researchers set up camera traps in their remote mountain habitat. What resulted were more than 140 photos showing at least 15 individual wild dogs. Research is ongoing to the genetic relationship between this species and the New Guinea singing dog, a captive-bred variant of the wild dog, as well as the Australian dingo. Researchers are optimistic about the New Guinea wild dog's chance of survival, particularly since the local mining companies have already been taking measures to protect the ecosystem around the mining sites in this remote location. ➡ Subscribe: http://bit.ly/NatGeoSubscribe About National Geographic: National Geographic is the world's premium destination for science, exploration, and adventure. Practical Machine Learning Tutorial with Python Intro p.1

05:55
The objective of this course is to give you a holistic understanding of machine learning, covering theory, application, and inner workings of supervised, unsupervised, and deep learning algorithms. In this series, we'll be covering linear regression, K Nearest Neighbors, Support Vector Machines (SVM), flat clustering, hierarchical clustering, and neural networks. For each major algorithm that we cover, we will discuss the high level intuitions of the algorithms and how they are logically meant to work. Next, we'll apply the algorithms in code using real world data sets along with a module, such as with Scikit-Learn. Finally, we'll be diving into the inner workings of each of the algorithms by recreating them in code, from scratch, ourselves, including all of the math involved. This should give you a complete understanding of exactly how the algorithms work, how they can be tweaked, what advantages are, and what their disadvantages are. In order to follow along with the series, I suggest you have at the very least a basic understanding of Python. If you do not, I suggest you at least follow the Python 3 Basics tutorial until the module installation with pip tutorial. If you have a basic understanding of Python, and the willingness to learn/ask questions, you will be able to follow along here with no issues. Most of the machine learning algorithms are actually quite simple, since they need to be in order to scale to large datasets. Math involved is typically linear algebra, but I will do my best to still explain all of the math. If you are confused/lost/curious about anything, ask in the comments section on YouTube, the community here, or by emailing me. You will also need Scikit-Learn and Pandas installed, along with others that we'll grab along the way. Machine learning was defined in 1959 by Arthur Samuel as the "field of study that gives computers the ability to learn without being explicitly programmed." This means imbuing knowledge to machines without hard-coding it. https://pythonprogramming.net/machine-learning-tutorial-python-introduction/ https://twitter.com/sentdex https://www.facebook.com/pythonprogra... https://plus.google.com/+sentdex

Stranded Beluga Whale Rescued, Flown Back to Sea | National Geographic

01:24
A beluga whale stranded in a Canadian river for several weeks hitched a ride home thanks to a team of rescuers. The whale became trapped in the Nepisiguit River in New Brunswick, Canada, likely in search of food, or after an especially high tide. The rescuers used a net to catch the whale, put it on a stretcher, and then drove it to a waiting plane. It was flown back to the sea and released, where it will hopefully rejoin its pod. ➡ Subscribe: http://bit.ly/NatGeoSubscribe About National Geographic: National Geographic is the world's premium destination for science, exploration, and adventure. Leopard Strays Into Gurgaon Home, 3-Hour Chase

00:29
Gurgaon: The residents of Gurgaon's Sohna area had an unwelcome guest this morning. A leopard. The wild cat was spotted this morning at the Sohna-Palwal road by some locals, who then informed the police. It later moved towards the residential areas, officials said. The wildlife department of Gurgaon cordoned off the area, and reportedly managed to capture the leopard after a three-hour chase. The leopard was spotted in the Sohna residential area at around 11 AM but it has not hurt anyone," Gurgaon police officer Manish Sehgal told Press Trust of India. He said a team of local police and wildlife department officials used tranquillisers to capture the leopard. It is not the first time that a leopard has been spotted near residential areas of Gurgaon. A week ago, a leopard was sighted at the Golf Course area. These wild animals usually stray into human habitats as there is a scarcity of water in the Aravalli region, officials said. Last year, a male leopard was killed with sharp edged weapons and sticks in Manesar in which 12 people were injured The leopard was spotted in the Sohna residential area at around 11 AM but it has not hurt anyone," Gurgaon police officer Manish Sehgal told Press Trust of India. Precision Public Health: Balancing Scientific Investment and Prevention

01:03:36
Precision public health assumes that individuals vary in their genetic makeup and the response to their environment and their diseases differ as a result. Donna Arnett will summarize the rapid advancements in genomics over the past two decades and the impact of those advancements on disease prediction and treatment. She will argue that while precision public health has merit, public health researchers and providers must seek equipoise in balancing proven health promotion activities and scientific advancement to address the common diseases in the US.

Historicamente, a moeda virtual apresenta alta volatilidade.

Auburn Coach Wife Kristi Malzahn Agrees with Match & eHarmony: Men are Jerks

12:23
My advice is this: Settle! That's right. Don't worry about passion or intense connection. Don't nix a guy based on his annoying habit of yelling "Bravo!" in movie theaters. Overlook his halitosis or abysmal sense of aesthetics. Because if you want to have the infrastructure in place to have a family, settling is the way to go. Based on my observations, in fact, settling will probably make you happier in the long run, since many of those who marry with great expectations become more disillusioned with each passing year. (It's hard to maintain that level of zing when the conversation morphs into discussions about who's changing the diapers or balancing the checkbook.) Obviously, I wasn't always an advocate of settling. In fact, it took not settling to make me realize that settling is the better option, and even though settling is a rampant phenomenon, talking about it in a positive light makes people profoundly uncomfortable. Whenever I make the case for settling, people look at me with creased brows of disapproval or frowns of disappointment, the way a child might look at an older sibling who just informed her that Jerry's Kids aren't going to walk, even if you send them money. It's not only politically incorrect to get behind settling, it's downright un-American. Our culture tells us to keep our eyes on the prize (while our mothers, who know better, tell us not to be so picky), and the theme of holding out for true love (whatever that is—look at the divorce rate) permeates our collective mentality. Even situation comedies, starting in the 1970s with The Mary Tyler Moore Show and going all the way to Friends, feature endearing single women in the dating trenches, and there's supposed to be something romantic and even heroic about their search for true love. Of course, the crucial difference is that, whereas the earlier series begins after Mary has been jilted by her fiancé, the more modern-day Friends opens as Rachel Green leaves her nice-guy orthodontist fiancé at the altar simply because she isn't feeling it. But either way, in episode after episode, as both women continue to be unlucky in love, settling starts to look pretty darn appealing. Mary is supposed to be contentedly independent and fulfilled by her newsroom family, but in fact her life seems lonely. Are we to assume that at the end of the series, Mary, by then in her late 30s, found her soul mate after the lights in the newsroom went out and her work family was disbanded? If her experience was anything like mine or that of my single friends, it's unlikely. And while Rachel and her supposed soul mate, Ross, finally get together (for the umpteenth time) in the finale of Friends, do we feel confident that she'll be happier with Ross than she would have been had she settled down with Barry, the orthodontist, 10 years earlier? She and Ross have passion but have never had long-term stability, and the fireworks she experiences with him but not with Barry might actually turn out to be a liability, given how many times their relationship has already gone up in flames. It's equally questionable whether Sex and the City's Carrie Bradshaw, who cheated on her kindhearted and generous boyfriend, Aidan, only to end up with the more exciting but self-absorbed Mr. Big, will be better off in the framework of marriage and family. (Some time after the breakup, when Carrie ran into Aidan on the street, he was carrying his infant in a Baby Björn. Can anyone imagine Mr. Big walking around with a Björn?)
