How to get into the mines - Tickets
My experience getting into the mines. I used my trade qualification and applied to the National Apprenticeships Program https://nationalapprenticeships.com.au/ If your not a tradesperson, the video still applies to you as i think these are the minimum tickets to get into the mines, unless you know somebody your going to need tickets. Once you get out there its very easy to get into other areas of mining just by talking to people in the pub (wet mess its called). 3 main tickets i recommend for starting are Confined Spaces, Working at heights, and EWP below 11m - cheaper than the high risk ticket but its still an EWP ticket so you can say you can have one. Construction safety white card as well would be good, its a cheap one to do. I did my confined spaces and working at heights at a place called Skills on safety at tweed heads. http://www.skillsonsafety.com.au/ you'll be able to do most of the tickets you need at this place. The other place ive done alot of tickets and recommend is major training at yatla. www.major.com.au

SUBSCRIBE to our Google Earth flights channel - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6UuCPh7GrXznZi0Hz2YQnQ Mining Machinery Engineering is an interdisciplinary branch of engineering that applies the principles of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and mining engineering for analysis, design, manufacturing and maintenance of mining equipment. It includes study of various aspects of equipment used in earthworks, mineral processing, bulk material handling, drilling and construction. Surface mining equipment evolved at a high pace in the 20th century as the scale of mining grew up. In the first twenty years of the 1900s, steam power was largely replaced by internal combustion engines and electric motors. Till the 1970s such equipment mainly used mechanical system and cables for power transmission after which they started to be replaced by hydraulic drive system for small machines. However, mechanical and cable drives are still dominant in large machines. Similar development took place in the development of underground machinery. Drilling and blasting replaced manual cutting of ores. Lately, use of continuous mining machines has become order of the day to comply with environmental regulations, protect surface features and also to achieve increased production rate. As the concern for safety in mines increased and highly stringent regulations were put in place, it required mining machinery engineers to be highly conversant with such regulations. Since Mining Machinery Engineering is a wholesome branch, the course of which covers disciplines like Mechanical Engineering, Mining Engineering, Mineral Engineering, Electrical Engineering, the employment opportunities are tremendous. Mining Machinery Engineering provides excellent career opportunities in various industries such as mining, heavy earth moving equipment, construction industry, mineral processing and other related industries. It is recognized by the Ministry of Labor, Government of India as equivalent to mechanical and electrical engineering for working in mines. The unique branch of Mining Machinery has a plethora of recruitment scope. Every single engineer of Mining Machinery Engineering has a vast on site experience of Machines deployed in both opencast as well as underground mines along with this, students are well versed with various bulk solid handling equipment like crushers, conveyors, feeders etc. The course of Mining Machinery Engineering also caters to construction equipment like Motor Graders, Dozers, Compactors etc. The amount of cost saved by the company hiring Mining Machinery Engineering graduates is quite high as every Mining Machinery Engineer has a multi-disciplinary approach towards solving problems owing to their vast area of expertise.

Canadian Mining Industry
Aired on June 20, 2007 As commodity prices boom around the world, Canada's mining industry is booming, too. But it's also under increasing scrutiny. Pressure from NGO's who monitor Canadian companies abroad, led to a national round-table on corporate social responsibility and the extractive industry. Its produced a stellar and unanimous report N-G-Os and industry came to a consensus. We wanted to talk to someone from Foreign Affairs about these new guidelines, unfortunately, they declined saying they're still studying the proposals. It seems there may not be consensus in the Canadian government. But for the bigger picture of the Canadian mining industry worldwide, Avi talks to Karyn Keenan with the Halifax Initiative, an international development NGO based in Ottawa. THE FACTS ON MINING IN CANADA: Sixty percent of the world's exploration companies are listed on Canada's Stock Exchanges. Eighty-five percent of all the mining deals done world wide are done in Canada. Canadian companies account for over 40% of global exploration budgets. And they have Interests in more than 3,000 mineral properties in more than 100 countries. It all means that Canada is a big player. LINKS: http://www.halifaxinitiative.org/

Small Scale Miners Yet To Reap Full Benefits Of Sector
For many working in mines across the country work is tedious with minimal pay. But this is often the only employment option available. Now their only source of income could be in doubt following the issuance of a legal notice that will see royalties across the mining sector adjusted upward as of 30th of October. The revised royalty rates will significantly affect operating costs across the sector. Mining cabinet secretary Najib Balala defended the increment as a necessary revision and outlined his intention to garner a pan African collective royalty agreement. Michelle Morgan takes a look at the impact the revised royalties are likely to have on the mining industry.

SIUC Technology Transfer: Innovative Spray System on Continuous Miners for Dust Control
"Second Line of Defense or SLD" sprays technology has significantly improved dust control at multiple mines. Total Dust Control by Location of coal miner: miner operator location about 30%; haulage unit operator location by 15%; return location by about 30%. About 30% quartz dust reduction is possible without additional modifications. Incremental cost to retrofit SLD sprays technology on continuous miners is small. Under a recent grants from CDC/NIOSH, SIUC plans to further improve the technology for both total dust and quartz dust control. Coal mines can license and implement this technology in order to increase protection for miners. To license this technology or learn more, contact the SIU Carbondale Technology Transfer Program. Mining Matters in your Everyday Life
This video by the Colorado Mining Association presents an informative and educational video on how mining matters to each and every one of us in our every day life, not just in Colorado but around the world. Many do not realize that our modern society relies on mining for many of the products and comforts we enjoy including such electronic devices such as computers, cell phones, MP3 Players, home appliances, and medical diagnostic equipment to name a few . Many of the facets of the lifestyle we enjoy in Colorado would not be possible without mining, including ski lifts, roadway anti-skid treatments, mountain bikes, , as well as the heat , shelter and electricity needed to survive a long cold mountain night. Colorado is a major producer of molybdenum (called moly for short) which is used in stainless steel, cars, lubricants, and light bulbs. Moly is also used in automotive catalytic converters, to help keep our environment clean. Mining provides for personal health care products you use every day such as cosmetics, toothpaste, deodorant, calamine lotion, baking soda, and your sunscreen! 72% of Colorado's electricty is provided by clean, abundant coal. Coal provides 50% of the electricity nationwide. Colorado coal is low in ash and sulfur; therefore, it is considered "clean coal" Modern methods of filtering and scrubbing coal plant stack emissions provide for cheap and affordable energy to energize our economy and meet the affordable energy costs with little emissions into our environment. Alternative energy such as wind, solar , hydro and geothermal options become a feasible component for fulfilling our Nations' energy needs. Colorado is pursuing an aggressive alternative energy program which depends on the mining industry to provide the raw materials to build the solar panels, wind turbines, hybrid cars, and transmission line infrastructure required to meet the demands of these future programs. Bio-Fuel production, and modern agriculture in general would not be possible without the fertilizer and pest control products which rely on mining for some ingredients. Many do not realize that Colorado uranium is used around the world to fuel clean, efficient, zero emissions nuclear energy facilities in both the industrial and military sectors. Modern mining is conducted without damaging the environment. Any surface disturbances are restored back to their natural condition, typically providing an improved animal habitat. Modern Mmning is environmentally sound and actually safer than most other occupations. You are far more likely to be injured working in the retail, construction or transportation industries than working in a mine, above or below ground. Colorado miners are typically persons who love and actively protect their fragile mountain environment in which they live and work. They usually live in close proximity to the mines and go above and beyond any environmental or safety regulations, not only in their stewardship of environmental protection, but for the protection of their families, homes, co-workers and community in which they live. For more information on how important mining is to our quality of life we invite you to visit the following link : Colorado Mining Association http://www.coloradomining.org National Mining Association http://www.nma.org Mineral Information Institute http://www.mii.org If it can't be grown, it has to be mined !

Gold Mine Adventure in Tenerife
Free video about gold mine. This free video was created for you by http://epsos.de and can be used for free under the creative commons license with the attribution of epSos.de as the original author of this gold mine video. Thank you for supporting the creative commons movement !! The Teide National Park occupies the highest part of the island of Tenerife and Spain In Teide National Park comprises 168 higher plants are added. Of these, 58 are considered endemic Canarian plants. At present, according to the National Catalogue of Endangered Species, three plant species are in danger of extinction and other twelve in vulnerable situation. For many endemic, walls and cavities that form the Glens stones, they are a true refuge for conservation. The similarity between environmental and geological conditions of the Teide National Park and the planet Mars have turned this enclave in volcanic benchmark for Mars related studies. The similarities between Mars and parts of Tenerife make the island the ideal place for testing instruments traveling to Mars and reveal past or present life on that planet. In 2010 a research team tested in Las Canadas del Teide, the Raman instrument to be sent in the next expedition to Mars. To determine the gold wealth in mineral veins or veins of a small pan about 20 cm in diameter is used, similar to a bucket in Chile and Argentina is often called scow ; the moderately fine ore is ground, a handful placed in the scow, stirred with water, and gold sits in the background. This way you can calculate the amount of gold contained in the ore. With a metal detector, a person can walk around an area of exploration and consistently below the surface. The sensor can give a positive measure a quantity of gold at a depth of one meter below the surface. As the device is easy to operate and highly mobile, this method of prospecting is very popular among gold diggers. The minerals extracted from the veins or veins that have a good concentration of gold, especially free and granulated particles are mixed with water and ground in a stones called quimbaletes, those with a concavity that allows use as a mortar. Then mercury is added to form an amalgam with gold, which is separated from the rest straining through a fine cloth. Then it refoga or burning mercury amalgam to evaporate, leaving the gold in the form of balls, whose size depends on the amount of metal in the ore. This procedure is not only harmful to the miner who practice, who hopes of mercury vapors removed during heating, but also to the surrounding areas, as the evaporated mercury condenses contaminating land and water. Approximately 45% of 2011 funded gold come from the People's Republic of China, Australia, the United States, Russia and South Africa. The deepest gold mines in the world are located in South Africa. There gold is mined almost 4000 meters below the surface. In early 2011 planned mining company AngloGold Ashanti already shafts in up to 5,000 meters deep. The main occupations of a mining include drilling rock with picks and shovels or using power tools to extract the mineral, shore up tunnels with wooden supports to prevent its collapse, deploy waterways to transport stone or mineral load the trucks for transport abroad. The work of a miner in the interior of the mine is hard. First, they are deprived of sunlight so they should illuminated by lights attached to their helmets. Second, it's a dirty job as mineral dust permeates the clothes, hair and skin of workers. The mining work requires physical effort and is not without risks. Often they must work in awkward postures or inclined to travel long distances or kneeling to reach the vein. Moreover, they are often exposed to landslides or rock falls that can cause fractures from small to death by crushing. Miners can also be brought rebanaduras and amputations when working with sharp tools. The agreement number 45 of the International Labour Organisation, adopted on June 21 of 1935, Article 2, prohibits the employment of women in underground mines. This agreement has been ratified by 70 countries, 28 of which have reported. Thank you for supporting the creative commons movement !!
