Egypt resurrects its gold mines
Reuters video Despite a history of gold mining that stretches back to the pharaohs, Egypt's mines have been largely dormant. Hayley Platt reports of how renewed interest from investors has Egypt's government anticipating a 5 percent contribution to GDP within 10 years. There's little to attract the eye here - but it's what's below that counts. Under this dusty landscape in Egypt's Eastern Desert lies hidden treasure. And this geologist is intent on finding it.

Power’s War - Wild West
Documentary | Narrated by Mad Men’s John Slattery
On the evening of February 9th, 1918 three local lawmen and one federal officer rode into the Arizona wilderness to apprehend four men. The events that followed has been so steeped in legend, lies, and hearsay, that the facts of what occurred at that remote cabin and why were almost lost to history. Grand Jury Prize Winner of the 2015 Anthem Film Festival, Best Documentary Film: 2015 Jerome 89A Film and Music Festival, Logan Utah Film Festival. 2016 Best of the West Documentary Film for TrueWest Magazine. 2016 Gold Spur Award from the Western Writers of America. This shootout did not take place on the streets of Tombstone during its wild territorial days, but rather in a remote canyon of the Galiuro Mountains on a snowy Sunday morning in 1918. Close examination at the extant documents of the case following the shootout reveal that this was an opening salvo in a much more modern battle which pitted the rights of individuals against the power of the federal government. Power’s War tells the story of the dawn of the American surveillance age and the affect it had on the Power Family as they chased the disappearing wild frontier. Their silent protest against the war led to a skirmish that was soon followed by the largest manhunt and longest prison sentence served in the state of Arizona Directed by Cameron Trejo.

The 33 - Official Trailer [HD]
The 33 - in theaters November 13th. http://the33movie.com https://www.facebook.com/the33movie --- From Alcon Entertainment and Phoenix Pictures comes the unforgettable true story of “The 33.” In 2010, the eyes of the world turned to Chile, where 33 miners had been buried alive by the catastrophic explosion and collapse of a 100-year-old gold and copper mine. Over the next 69 days, an international team worked night and day in a desperate attempt to rescue the trapped men as their families and friends, as well as millions of people globally, waited and watched anxiously for any sign of hope. But 200 stories beneath the surface, in the suffocating heat and with tensions rising, provisions—and time—were quickly running out. A story of resilience, personal transformation and triumph of the human spirit, the film takes us to the Earth’s darkest depths, revealing the psyches of the men trapped in the mine, and depicting the courage of both the miners and their families who refused to give up. Based on the gripping true story of survival—and filmed with the cooperation of the miners, their families and their rescuers—“The 33” reveals the never-before-seen actual events that unfolded, above and below ground, which became nothing less than a worldwide phenomenon. The international cast is led by Antonio Banderas, Rodrigo Santoro, Academy Award winner Juliette Binoche (“The English Patient”), James Brolin, and Lou Diamond Phillips, with Bob Gunton and Gabriel Byrne. The main cast also includes Mario Casas, Jacob Vargas, Juan Pablo Raba, Oscar Nuñez, Tenoch Huerta, Marco Treviño, Adriana Barraza, Kate Del Castillo, Cote de Pablo, Elizabeth De Razzo, Naomi Scott, Gustavo Angarita, and Alejandro Goic. Patricia Riggen directed “The 33” from a screenplay by Mikko Alanne, Oscar nominee Craig Borten (“Dallas Buyers Club”) and Michael Thomas, based on the screen story by Jose Rivera and the book Deep Down Dark by Hector Tobar. The film was produced by Oscar nominee Mike Medavoy (“Black Swan”), Robert Katz and Edward McGurn. Carlos Eugenio Lavin, Leopoldo Enriquez, Alan Zhang and José Luis Escolar served as executive producers. The behind-the-scene creative team included cinematographer Checco Varese, production designer Marco Niro, editor Michael Tronick and Oscar-nominated costume designer Paco Delgado (“Les Misérables”). The Academy Award-winning team of Alex Henning and Ben Grossman (“Hugo”) supervised the visual effects. The score was composed by Oscar winner James Horner (“Titanic”). “The 33” was filmed on location in Chile’s harshly remote yet stunningly beautiful Atacama desert just kilometers away from where the event took place, and deep within two mines located in central Colombia. A presentation of Alcon Entertainment and Phoenix Pictures, “The 33” is slated to open on November 13, 2015 and will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

The Gold Mountain Mine
The project has been several years in the making ... restoring an old gold mine outside of Hill City. Preserving the mine wasn't the original intention of the U.S. Forest Service ... but after hearing its history and coordinating with local volunteers, the service knew if they didn't do something, this piece of Black Hills history might be lost forever. Westward Expansion: Crash Course US History #24
In which John Green teaches you about the Wild, Wild, West, which as it turns out, wasn't as wild as it seemed in the movies. When we think of the western expansion of the United States in the 19th century, we're conditioned to imagine the loner. The self-reliant, unattached cowpoke roaming the prairie in search of wandering calves, or the half-addled prospector who has broken from reality thanks to the solitude of his single-minded quest for gold dust. While there may be a grain of truth to these classic Hollywood stereotypes, it isn't a very big grain of truth. Many of the pioneers who settled the west were family groups. Many were immigrants. Many were major corporations. The big losers in the westward migration were Native Americans, who were killed or moved onto reservations. Not cool, American pioneers. America’s Westward expansion was fueled by both Manifest Destiny and a desire to grow the nation and its resources — though at a cost: https://www.commonlit.org/texts/manifest-destiny As Americans continued to stream West on the name of Manifest Destiny, American Indians saw their lives changed forever as they moved from practising resistance to lives on reservations: https://www.commonlit.org/texts/from-resistance-to-reservations

The Forgotten History of the American Empire: Ecology and Habitability of the American West (2003)
John Charles Frémont or Fremont (January 21, 1813 – July 13, 1890) was an American military officer, explorer, and politician who became the first candidate of the anti-slavery Republican Party for the office of President of the United States. About the book: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JJ9XZZ0/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B00JJ9XZZ0&linkCode=as2&tag=tra0c7-20&linkId=70717e479eb92bc235eab3424d2b9c28 During the 1840s, when he led four expeditions into the American West, that era's penny press and admiring historians accorded Frémont the sobriquet The Pathfinder. During the Mexican–American War, Frémont, a major in the U.S. Army, took control of California from the Bear Flag Republic in 1846. Frémont then proclaimed himself military Governor of California; however, for that he was convicted in court martial for mutiny and insubordination. After President Polk commuted his sentence, Frémont led a fourth expedition, which cost ten lives, seeking a rail route over the mountains around the 38th parallel in the winter of 1849. He retired from military service and settled in California. Frémont acquired massive wealth during the California Gold Rush, but he was soon bogged down with lawsuits over land claims, between the dispossession of various land owners during the Mexican–American War and the explosion of Forty-Niners immigrating during the Rush. These cases were settled by the U.S. Supreme Court allowing Frémont to keep his property. Frémont became one of the first two U.S. senators elected from the new state of California in 1850. He was the first presidential candidate of the new Republican Party, carrying most of the North. He lost the 1856 presidential election to Democrat James Buchanan when Know-Nothings split the vote and Democrats warned his election would lead to civil war. During the American Civil War, he was given command of Department of the West by President Abraham Lincoln. Although Frémont had successes during his brief tenure as Commander of the Western Armies, he ran his department autocratically, and made hasty decisions without consulting Washington D.C. or President Lincoln. After Frémont's emancipation edict that freed slaves in his district, he was relieved of his command by President Lincoln for insubordination. In 1861, Frémont was the first commanding Union general who recognized an "iron will" to fight in Brigadier General Ulysses S. Grant and promoted him commander at the strategic base near Cairo, Illinois. After the Civil War, Frémont's wealth declined after investing heavily and purchasing an unsuccessful Pacific Railroad in 1866. Frémont served as Governor of Arizona appointed by President Rutherford B. Hayes and served from 1878 to 1881. Frémont, retired from politics and financially destitute, died in New York City in 1890. Historians portray Frémont as controversial, impetuous, and contradictory. Some scholars regard him as a military hero of significant accomplishment, while others view him as a failure who repeatedly defeated his own best purposes. The keys to Frémont's character and personality may lie in his being born illegitimately, his ambitious drive for success, self-justification, and passive-aggressive behavior. In 1966, Dick Simmons played Fremont, with Phillip Pine as Kit Carson and Michael Pate as scout Frenchy Godey in the episode, "Samaritans, Mountain Style," of the syndicated television series, Death Valley Days, hosted by Robert Taylor. In the story line, Carson and Gody, as part of the Fremont expedition, stop to help a settler in dire straits.[88] In 1977, the actor Robert Reed played Frémont in the two-part "Kit Carson and the Mountain Men" on NBC's The Wonderful World of Disney. Christopher Connelly played Kit Carson; Rodolfo Hoyos Jr., General Manuel Armijo. The two-part episode was originally telecast as a television movie.[89] The 1983 historical novel, Dream West, by western writer David Nevin covers the life, loves and times of Frémont. The novel was later adapted into a television mini-series of the same name with Richard Chamberlain as Frémont. In the 1940 movie, Kit Carson, the actor Dana Andrews played Frémont and Jon Hall played Kit Carson. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_C._Fr%C3%A9mont

INCREDIBLE Discoveries in North America
North America is home to many mysterious civilizations and artifacts that have been left over from tribes who inhabited the land 1000’s of years ago. As time went by cowboys and even pirates would leave their mark on this continent and not be discovered until centuries later. From a massive shipwreck in our great lakes to pioneers preserved by the dryness of the arizona desert, here are incredible discoveries in North murica’ Subscribe to American Eye http://goo.gl/GBphkv 6. Iowa Mammoth Imagine being a young lad and already making cooler discoveries than some archaeologists who have a masters degree in the subject! This frightening discovery of a Mammoth skeleton must have shocked these homeowners from Iowa in 2010 in the town of Oskaloosa. While the father and son duo were picking berries on their property, one of the boys thought they saw a ball in the distance. It turned out not to be a ball but a 4 foot wooly mammoth femur bone that we see in this photo. Hopefully, they don’t leave the bones around too long or the family dog might decide to start chewing on them! The bone discovery is said to date back to 12,000 years ago and the family uncovered an addition 20 plus bones at the site. The femur was sent to a lab in the University of Iowa and further excavating was done, revealing an entire skeleton except the skull. 5. Saddle ridge Hoard An extremely lucky couple hit the jackpot when they stumbled across a historic find on their property in 2013. Northern California was home to the gold rush and so much gold was uncovered at this time that someone found the need to stash it. As they were walking their dog, they stumbled across 10 million dollars worth of rare, mint-condition coins buried next to a tree. Each of the 1427 piece treasure dated from 1847 to 1894 was authenticated by the co-founder of Professional Coin Grading Service of Santa Ana, David Hall. And they all check out as authentic! Some are so rare that they could actually fetch a price of 1 million each! And you thought stumbling across a 20 dollar bill made you lucky! 4. Native Bronze Possibly the most mysterious artifact found in Alaska date back to 1400 years ago. It’s a bronze buckle found at Cape Espenberg that appears to have made it’s way there from China, well before the Bering Strait land bridge melted. Could the natives in this area have actually made contact with the Chinese! It appeared to have been older than the house they were originally excavating at least a few hundred year and metal crafting was really never apart of eskimo culture. Some believe that it’s likely that the ancient artifact was dropped by a Russian explorer or a whaler. But if that’s not the case, it could be evidence of an advanced trade route between Asia and Alaska during the Bronze age. 3. Luke Air Force Base Discoveries From 2012 to 2015, archaeologists uncovered a treasure trove of native american artifacts that date back to 3000 BC, including an ancient dwelling. Many of the discoveries they made are at least 1000 years older than other artifacts found in the Phoenix, Arizona valley. Many of the artifacts belong to the hohokam people who inhabited the southwestern united states but a lot of the stuff predates them by 2000 years. This means that they could have belong to that tribes ancestors and they’re being closely analyzed. Other artifacts like stone tools here help them narrow down the timeline of when they had access to corn and ways to cultivate their own food. Could other air force bases out there be hiding some artifacts from ancient people who once lived on this land? 2. The Mojave Nugget The largest known golden nugget found in California is known as the Mojave nugget and it was found in 1977 by a prospector Ty Paulsen. Weighing in at 4.9 kilograms it’s worth roughly 205,800 dollars with the current price of gold! Who knew a hobby could result in such a life changing discovery. The massive chunk of gold ore was found near Randsburg, California which as had a history of gold mining since 1895 when gold was first discovered. Ty Paulsen is certainly happy no other pioneer was able to find this chunk of metal! It was apparently so heavy, that a special gold scale had to be created for this specific specimen. It was donated to the natural history museum of los angeles county which seems like one heck of a donation! Instead of playing the lottery, you might as well just buy a metal detector and get to work 1...

War & Expansion: Crash Course US History #17
In which John Green teaches you about the Mexican-American War in the late 1840s, and the expansion of the United States into the western end of North America. In this episode of Crash Course, US territory finally reaches from the Atlantic coast to the Pacific Ocean. After Oregon was secured from the UK and the southwest was ceded by Mexico, that is. Famous Americans abound in this episode, including James K Polk (Young Hickory, Napoleon of the Stump), Martin Van Buren, Zachary Taylor, and Winfield Scott. You'll also learn about the California Gold Rush of 1848, and California's admission as a state, which necessitated the Compromise of 1850. Once more slavery is a crucial issue. Something is going to have to be done about slavery, I think. Maybe it will come to a head next week. America’s Westward expansion was fueled by both Manifest Destiny and a desire to grow the nation and its resources — though at a cost: https://www.commonlit.org/texts/manifest-destiny

Native Americans sue for land rights
1. Press conference 2. Pan of map of Western Shoshone 3. Pan of complaint filed with the United States District Court 4. Press conference 5. SOUNDBITE: (English) Jeff Herman, Attorney for the Western Shoshone National Council "Most of the gold that is mined in our country, the United States, comes from this land. Approximately over 26 billion dollars of gold has been mined off this land and the Western Shoshone people have never received for the royalties that is owed on this land. In fact, it is much worse. The United States Government has been going in and now claiming that it owns the land and is attempting essentially to steal this land from the Western Shoshone people." 6. SOUNDBITE: (English) Raymond Yowell, Chief of the Western Shoshone Council "Unfortunately, the United States Government has not lived up to the articles of the treaty, but has broken these articles. Basically what the treaty is, is a contract between the Western Shoshone Nation and the United States. We can say that the United States is clearly in breach of contract." 7. Side view of presser 8. Close up of Carrie Dann of the Western Shoshone 9. Pan from media to press conference 10. SOUNDBITE: (English) Jeff Herman, Attorney for the Western Shoshone National Council "In our own back yard, the United States itself is perpetrating a genocide and a theft against the original citizens of this country and it's shameful." 11. Wide shot of presser STORYLINE: The Western Shoshone National Council, a group representing the rights of Shoshone American Indians, filed a complaint on Monday against the U.S. government. The Shoshone are seeking to confirm title to over 60 (m) million acres of land and determine royalties from use of the land. They claim the value of the land plus the harm caused by breaches of the treaty exceeds 100 (b) billion US dollars. Congress is considering a bill to distribute 150 (m) million US dollars to the Western Shoshone as compensation for land, but plaintiffs refuse to accept the money saying their land is not for sale. The United States and the Western Shoshone signed a Treaty of Peace and Friendship in 1863 that sought benefits for both parties. Under the treaty the United States would be allowed to mine the land and use it for routes of travel with no threat of harm or injury by the Shoshone Indians. In return, the US agreed to provide the Western Shoshone Council with fair compensation for use of the land. Despite collecting millions of dollars from the mining of gold, the United States government has allegedly failed to compensate the Western Shoshone people. Biofuels For Contrail Control?!? Greenwashing Chemtrails Explained
https://www.gofundme.com/weather-control-conference-2018 https://climateviewer.com/cirruscloudsmatter/ https://climateviewer.com/tags/artificial-clouds https://climateviewer.com/geoengineering/ 1."We need to heat the planet by 1.5 degrees to melt the poles to get the gas and oil." https://weathermodificationhistory.com/ 2. "Stratospheric water vapor from planes will heat the planet by 1.6 degrees" In 1966 the Committee on Atmospheric Sciences from the National Research Council stated in their report “WEATHER and CLIMATE MODIFICATION, PROBLEMS and PROSPECTS” that jet aircraft are creating too much water vapor in the stratosphere and that could raise earth’s surface temperature by 1.6 degrees Celsius. The possibility must be examined that the residence times for stratospheric contamination are so long that significant concentrations can build up from supersonic transport operations. If the contaminants introduced into the lower stratosphere remain there on the average of 10 years (about 10 times longer than is presently suspected), supersonic transports could double the concentration of water vapor naturally present. This would affect the radiation balance, but not in very important degree, according to model calculations of Manabe (1965). Assuming fixed relative humidity, Manabe finds that a five-fold increase of stratospheric water vapor would raise the temperature of the earth’s surface by 1.6°C. https://books.google.com/books?id=lz4rAAAAYAAJ&lpg=PA105&hl=fr&pg=PA99#v=twopage&q&f=false 3. 2017, John Lacy, Medal of Merit, Amer. Mining Hall of Fame
The Mining Foundation of the Southwest is pleased to recognize John Lacy as a 2017 recipient of the Medal of Merit for induction into the American Mining Hall of Fame. John Lacy freely admits that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. He grew up in the smelter town of La Oroya, Peru, the headquarters of Cerro de Pasco Copper Corporation where his father, Willard Lacy, was the chief geologist. When the father was appointed a professor at the College of Mines at The University of Arizona, the young Lacy instinctively knew that his future career would be mining related. Willard Lacy discouraged his son to go into mining so the son chose law and has been assisting mining clients in matters concerning mineral title, land acquisition and transactional matters. Aside from practicing mining law, the young Lacy also followed the family teaching tradition, first in college where he found modest success as a long-distance runner and then coached the freshman cross country teams while he was in law school. He also formed and coached an Army cross country team while stationed at Ft. Huachuca during a four-year service as a Judge Advocate General officer. Lacy began teaching mining law at The University of Arizona in 1976 as an unpaid adjunct professor. In 2015, he was approached to direct a new Global Mining Law Center and has since formulated two on-line masters’ degree programs at the University of Arizona’s law school for graduate lawyers and mining professionals. The program now partners with the Lowell Institute for Mineral Resources and offers cross-listing of courses. Lacy has been recognized by The University of Arizona with the Distinguished Citizen Award in 1984, the law school’s Distinguished Alumnus Award in 2008, and the Alumni Association’s Alumni Service Award in 2009 and Professional Achievement Award in 2017. Lacy’s teaching efforts were also recognized by the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation in 2015 with the Clyde O. Martz Teaching Award. Further, he also authored a number of professional articles on mining law and is especially proud of those articles co-authored with his father. The teaching of history has also been one of Lacy’s passions. Lacy, a long-time member of the Arizona Historical Society, was awarded the Al Merito Award in 2009, the Society’s highest honor. He also currently serves as president of the annual Arizona History Convention.

12 Things To Know About The Israeli F 35 “Super” Stealth Fighter
This video show you that 12 Things To Know About The Israeli F-35 “Super” Stealth Fighter SUBSCRIBE US AT : https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCxBZ-W32ThgnLWOkyS-dyFw Here are few things to know about the hi-tech plane and Israel's purchase of it: 1. The plane built by US aerospace giant Lockheed Martin is the most expensive in history. 2. Proponents tout its radar-dodging stealth technology, airborne agility and a massive array of sensors giving pilots unparallelled access to information. 3. It includes its own operating system, with data that appears on the visor and is also shared elsewhere. Thermal and night vision as well as 360-degree views are possible with cameras mounted on the plane. 4. Israel is buying its first 33 jets at an average price of about $110 million (103.5 million euros) each. As a comparison, in 2001, Israel agreed to buy 52 additional F-16s from Lockheed Martin at a total cost of $1.3 billion. 5. Israel, which receives more than $3 billion per year in US defence aid, says it will be the first country outside the United States to have an operational F-35 squadron. 6. Israeli components will be integrated into the plane, and its arrival is being welcomed as a major event for the country's military as it seeks to maintain dominance in the turbulent Middle East. 7. Israel Aerospace Industries and Elbit Systems, two Israeli companies, are among firms that have benefitted from contracts linked to the plane's production. 8. Israel's military will give the plane the name "Adir," or "mighty" in Hebrew. 9. It will be receiving the F-35A model for standard take-offs and landings. The B and C models are for short take-offs and aircraft carriers. Israel's version will be known as the F-35I. 10. Lockheed Martin describes the plane's stealth capabilities as unprecedented, allowing it to evade the most sophisticated missile systems. 11. The single-pilot jets can travel at a supersonic speed of Mach 1.6, or around 1,200 miles per hour (around 1,900 kilometres per hour). It can carry up to 18,000 pounds (8,200 kg) of weaponry, but that amount is reduced in stealth mode. 12. The planes are designed for multiple combat situations. The plane's ultra hi-tech helmet comes at a cost of some $400,000 each. But the program has faced numerous setbacks, including a mysterious engine fire in 2014 that led commanders to ground planes until the problem could be resolved. It is unclear when the planes will see combat. Israel says its first planes will be operational within a year. In the United States, the air force declared an initial squadron of F-35As ready for combat in August, without giving a timeline for actual combat. The US Marine Corps in 2015 announced that a first group of F-35Bs had attained initial operational capability, though these too have not yet been used in combat. f-35, super, stealth fighter, f-35 fighter, fighter jet, fighter aircraft, us fighter jet, f-35a, f-35i, stealth, us aerospace, lockheed martin, lightning ii, israel aerospace industries, elbit systems, israeli military, military, us military, israeli air force, us air force, air force, combat aircraft, missile system, missile, supersonic speed, mach, weaponry, weapon, mighty, f-35b, f-35c, ultra hi-tech helmet, engine, israel, us, squadron, us marine corps, combat, defence, army, navy, us navy, Channel Link: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCxBZ-W32ThgnLWOkyS-dyFw Also Visit our website for more news at http://www.conflictzone.co.nf/
