Barrick Is Throwing “Smoke Bombs” In Aim To Distract Says Pierre Lassonde

06:01
Barrick Gold may just be trying to lower Newmont MIning's share price enough in order to do a proper bid, said Pierre Lassonde, chairman of Franco-Nevada. "What's happening has never been seen in history. Frankly, it's the first time I've ever seen a hostile [takeover] at a discount to the stock price," Lassonde told Kitco News at the BMO Global Metals & Mining Conference. _________________________________________________________________ Kitco News is the world’s #1 source of metals market information. Here's How Franco-Nevada's President Sees Gold Right Now

06:26
Gold is three years into a bull run and "exciting" times are to come, said Paul Brink, president & COO of Franco-Nevada. "I think it's a very exciting time, the last five years, what we've been finding is rate raises in the U.S. and a strong U.S. dollar, and we're at the point of inflection," Brink told Kitco News on the sidelines of the Gold Stock Analyst conference. _________________________________________________________________ Kitco News is the world’s #1 source of metals market information. Gold Is “Where It Should Be” – Pierre Lassonde

05:02
While a much higher gold price is needed to bring bullish sentiment back into the mining space, the yellow metal is already fairly priced, said Pierre Lassonde, Chairman of Franco-Nevada Corp. “At $,1300 [an ounce], I will argue that gold is well priced,” Lassonde told Kitco News on the sidelines of the BMO Global Metals & Mining Conference. “It’s not overpriced and it’s not underpriced. It’s where it should be given everything else that’s happening in the world.” Lassonde noted that the industry itself, particularly the producers of precious metals, has been performing well, but much higher gold prices will be needed to secure investors’ interest back into the market. “At $1,300 gold, the mining companies, the operators, are doing well, you can see the balance sheets are better than ever. They’ve learned their lesson and are focusing on margins,” Lassonde said. “But if you look at the investors, they don’t want to hear about it.” Lassonde noted that Franco-Nevada, Newmont, and Agnico Eagle are currently the top performers in the industry, or as he liked to call it, companies with the “golden halo.” _________________________________________________________________ Kitco News is the world’s #1 source of metals market information. Don't Tell This CEO That Streaming Is The New Hedging

07:28
Streaming deals have made headlines, amounting to roughly $4 billion in 2015, but some analysts question whether the business model is beneficial to miners over the longer term. David Harquail, CEO of Franco-Nevada, joins Kitco News to comment on the matter and says these concerns may be overblown. ‘What we’re offering is the cheapest form of capital for a miner,’ he told Daniela Cambone at Gold Stock Analyst Investor Day, where he is a speaker. ‘If I were an investor in a company, I’d actually prefer the ones doing streaming or royalty deals because they’re trying to manage their equity dilution,’ he adds. Commenting on the gold market, Harquail said that although he is much more optimistic, the recent rally hasn’t gotten enough attention with investors. ‘It hasn’t made enough of the front pages yet,’ he says. ‘I don’t think it’s really gotten the attention outside of the normal followers of the industry.’ Don’t forget to sign up for Kitco News’ Weekly Roundup – comes out every Friday to recap the hottest stories & videos of the week: http://www.kitco.com/newsletter Join the conversation @ The Kitco Forums and be part of the premier online community for precious metals investors: http://kitcomm.com -- Or join the conversation on social media: @KitcoNewsNOW on Twitter: http://twitter.com/kitconews --- Kitco News on Facebook: http://facebook.com/kitconews --- Kitco News on Google+: http://google.com/+kitco --- Kitco News on StockTwits: http://stocktwits.com/kitconews

Frank Holmes: Royalty Companies Have Outperformed and Will Continue to Shine

15:22
There has been a perfect bottom pattern in the price of gold and the metal is now likely to increase by 70%, while gold stocks will likely increase 2 -3 times more than the underlying commodity. Royalty company Franco Nevada’s share price has doubled in the bear market, evidence that the royalty model is a superior business in rough markets. Also of interest to Frank as select mid-tier companies with high grades that are being targeted for acquisition and are currently well undervalued. Frank Holmes suggests that to evaluate a company for investment it is important to look at revenue per employee. Newmont is around $330,000 while Franco Nevada is around $15 million per employee. Outside of the precious metals and mining sector, negative interest rates indicate a decline in the profit cycle in general equities, but no major crash is likely. The airline sector has performed well and the JETS ETF takes advantage of the growing cash cow of the air transport industry, coupled with the low price of oil. Another example of a cash cow company is Microsoft. Talking points from this week’s video: • What is 2016 going to look like for gold? • Who has the highest cash flow return on their capital? • Love trade and fear trade in gold • Gold has definitely hit bottom and is now on the way up!

Mining CEOs Need To Stop Lying To Shareholders - Sandstorm’s CEO

There’s a lot of buzz around the mining industry right now as metals prices trade higher, but investors need to be careful. This was Nolan Watson’s main message during Gold Stock Analyst Investor Day. The Sandstorm Gold CEO addresses the issue of “fundamentally wrong” assets being promoted in the industry right now and how some executives are “lying” to investors about them. Pershing Gold (PGLC): Cash Rich, Permitted and Shovel Ready Gold Project in Nevada

14:18
http://goldstocktrades.com/blog Many of my readers benefitted in the last up cycle in junior gold mining stocks with the acquisition of Fronteer Gold by Newmont Mining for over $2 billion. I was one of the few analysts who predicted this buyout of Long Canyon and Fronteer. Most investors do not know that Long Canyon was acquired by Fronteer Gold from Auex Ventures and NewWest Gold who owned the Long Canyon, Northumberland and Sandman project. NewWest was run by Steve Alfers who went on to head US Operations for Franco Nevada up until 2011. Steve then was appointed CEO of Pershing Gold in March of 2012. The junior gold mining stock tripled in value when Alfers was appointed moving from 35 cents to 95 cents before settling back down. Management is crucial to an emerging producer and Alfers is a well recognized authority in US mining law, corporate financing arrangements, complex mining transactions and most importantly in today's environment mergers and acquisitions. Many junior miners are trading with no cash and for literally pennies of a penny on the dollar. Pershing is cash rich with over $20 million in the bank, 3 open pit mines and a state of the art, fully permitted and constructed heap leach processing facility with a huge capacity. The plant could process ore from new discoveries which Pershing is actively exploring. They have been hitting some exciting drill results recently. The recent permitting, drill results and potential uplisting to a larger exchange could be a major catalyst for this company which has the backing from a few strategic shareholders but may soon see an influx of institutional names wanting to get into a permitted and shovel ready low cost gold production story. Pershing is trading at all time lows and may be a better bet than chasing the overbought and parabolic S&P500 into all time highs. Disclosure: I own Pershing and the company is a website sponsor.

Why Lundin Gold CEO Is Smiling About Fruta del Norte, Gold Prices | Kitco News

04:11
With excitement back in the mining sector, Lundin Gold CEO Ron Hochstein is optimistic on the sector and gold prices for 2017. Speaking with Kitco News at the BMO conference, he said he would agree that the mining industry seems to be coming back in full force. ‘I think the sentiment here, actually it’s my 12th time here at BMO and it reminds me of the sentiment back in 2005,’ he said. ‘There are signs that there may be some interested coming back into the sector.’ Hochstein also updates viewers on the Fruta del Norte project in Ecuador — considered the largest undeveloped high-grade gold deposits in the world — which is likely to move along given the Ecuadorian government’s interest in working closely with miners in the country. Gold Is Headed "Substantially Higher" - David Harquail

Franco-Nevada, a miner traditionally focused on gold, has made a commitment to increase its oil and gas operations from its current 7% of revenues to 20%, said CEO David Harquail.“We think having some oil and gas actually makes our company stronger as a royalty company, and I think one of the benefits is that we’ve had the most dependable dividend in the business,” Harquail told Kitco News on the sidelines of the Gold Stock Analyst Conference. On gold, Harquail said that bull may see upside in the long-run. “I am confident that 5 years from now gold will be a lot higher than now,” he said. _________________________________________________________________ Kitco News is the world’s #1 source of metals market information. Rob McEwen Talks Newmont-Barrick And Future Of Gold

06:23
Mining mogul Rob McEwen said that more consolidation on the mega-cap level without premiums would ultimately mean shareholders benefit in the long-term. “Over the last five years, you’ve heard a growing voice from shareholders saying ‘hey, look after our interests first.’ And by going in and doing an at-market or discount to market where you can see real synergies occurring, say in Nevada, maybe more companies would start looking at that,” McEwen told Kitco News on the sidelines of the BMO Global Metals and Mining Conference. McEwen said that it may be more beneficial to both parties to merge without a large premium to begin with. “It’s a good trend. I think if we could see more of that happening, you’d see consolidation happening in the industry and the shareholders would be treated better,” _________________________________________________________________ Kitco News is the world’s #1 source of metals market information. Introducing the World’s Single Largest Gold Producer

03:39
The two largest gold miners – Barrick and Newmont Mining – announced a joint venture (JV) in their Nevada operations to create the world’s single largest gold producer with a reserve base of 48 million ounces in the ground. The JV is estimated to save both companies $500 million in the first five years of operations due to sharing resources and tax breaks. This news follows weeks of drama after Barrick offered a hostile, all-share bid to take over Newmont. Frank comments that the JV is a much better alternative, rather than have the two companies battle it out in the capital markets. Frank also says that a big winner from this news will be Franco-Nevada Corp, which owns royalties on several of the mines in the Nevada complex.

When It Comes To This, Miners Have It All Wrong - Hecla CEO | Kitco News

05:28
After posting record production in the company’s 125-year history, Hecla Mining is setting its eyes on mining more silver. Speaking with Kitco News at the BMO conference, CEO Phil Baker said he will continue to follow the strategy that has been working for the company. ‘Our cost structure is so low…That means we’re going to make very good margins regardless of where the prices are,’ he said. However, Baker warned that the industry as a whole may be in trouble because companies are not hedging properly again price volatility. ‘The dangers are when you don’t create margin and an example if you look at people’s price assumptions for the calculation of reserves,’ he explained. ‘They’re pricing it at spot today…and that’s troubling because what ends up happening is prices are going to be volatile and you’re going to lose value.’ Don’t forget to sign up for Kitco News’ Weekly Roundup – comes out every Friday to recap the hottest stories & videos of the week: https://connect.kitco.com/subscription/newsletter.html Join the conversation @ The Kitco Forums and be part of the premier online community for precious metals investors: https://gold-forum.kitco.com/ -- Or join the conversation on social media: @KitcoNewsNOW on Twitter: https://twitter.com/kitconewsnow --- Kitco News on Facebook: http://facebook.com/kitconews --- Kitco News on Google+: http://google.com/+kitco --- Kitco News on StockTwits: http://stocktwits.com/kitconews

TOP 5 GOLD STOCKS TO BUY IN 2019

17:26
5 Top Gold Stocks for 2019 The gold market in 2019 As we look ahead, we expect that the interplay between market risk and economic growth in 2019 will drive gold demand. And we explore three key trends that we expect will influence its price performance: -financial market instability -monetary policy and the US dollar -structural economic reforms. Against this backdrop, we believe that gold has an increasingly relevant role to play in investors' portfolios. Thanks to high gold prices and industry consolidation, 2019 is shaping up to be a golden year. Gold prices started to rally in late 2018 as economic and geopolitical concerns sent shock waves through global stock markets. Uncertainty in the market brings gold's appeal as a safe-haven asset to the forefront, and persistent economic tension could keep gold prices on a firm footing throughout 2019. Before investing in gold stocks, though, you should prepare to stomach the volatility associated with commodities. Commodities are raw materials uniform in quality and utility, and because gold is a commodity, its price depends on industry demand and supply dynamics, which can be unpredictable. As the price of gold fluctuates, so do the fortunes of gold companies and their stocks. Owning gold stocks is one of the best ways to gain exposure to the precious metal, as well as to diversify your portfolio. Investors who own stocks of low-cost gold producers that are also generating strong operating and free cash flows should see meaningful returns in the long run. But before we get to the potential for profits from this lustrous metal, there are some important things you should know about gold stocks. What is gold and what is it used for? Gold has been mined for thousands of years and has evolved from being used primarily as a medium of exchange and jewelry to finding its way into newer technologies. The yellow metal has come a long way and is now one of the most valuable modern commodities. But what makes gold so expensive that one ounce sells for a whopping $1,200 today? To start, gold is a rare element that's hard to extract from under the ground, where it's usually found. The World Gold Council says it's easier to find a 5-carat diamond than a 1-ounce gold nugget! Gold is also one of the most malleable, soft, and ductile metals, which means it can be stretched, hammered, and molded into any shape without breaking. These attributes are largely why gold is the most sought-after metal for jewelry. Globally, jewelry accounts for nearly half of the total demand for gold. Commercially, gold's high thermal conductivity and resistance to corrosion, among other chemical characteristics, make it a crucial input in several industries, especially electronic components, medicine (particularly dentistry), aerospace, and glass making. Central banks across the globe also hold tons of gold in reserves. Given gold's scarcity and vast variety of uses, owning gold in some form is a prudent investment decision. One way to accomplish this is by investing in gold stocks. What are gold stocks? Gold stocks are simply stocks of companies that revolve around gold. The industry mainly comprises gold mining companies that mine and sell gold, so when you buy a gold company's stock, you effectively purchase an ownership stake, and then the company's performance determines your returns. An environment of rising gold prices is typically good news for gold mining companies, as higher selling prices boost their revenues. So far, 2019 is turning out to be a positive year for gold prices, making it an opportune time to buy gold stocks for the first time or to add to your existing position. In fact, there couldn't be a better time to buy gold stocks, given the ongoing industry consolidation. Two massive recent deals -- Barrick Gold's (NYSE:GOLD) merger with Randgold Resources and Newmont Mining's (NYSE:NEM) impending acquisition of Goldcorp (NYSE:GG)-- are creating the world's two largest publicly traded gold mining companies. More recently, Barrick Gold even made a takeover bid for Newmont Mining, but the two gold mining giants have only agreed to combine their operations in Nevada in a joint venture as of this writing. These developments make investing in gold stocks now incredibly interesting. The industry isn't just mining companies but also gold streaming and royalty companies, which act as middlemen in the sector. Gold streamers like Franco-Nevada (NYSE:FNV) and Royal Gold (NASDAQ:RGLD) are among the largest players in the industry today

We Can’t Rely On Gold Prices, Says B2’s CEO

08:28
It could potentially be “dangerous” to rely on higher gold prices to be profitable as a miner, said Clive Johnson, CEO of B2Gold. “I’ve never been a gold bug, I’ve never believed that gold has to go higher, because I think that as a CEO of a gold mining company that would be a dangerous thing, because you could potentially do a deal that wasn’t great because you’re thinking gold’s going to save your butt by going higher,” Johnson told Kitco News on the sidelines of the BMO Global Metals & Mining Conference. _________________________________________________________________ Kitco News is the world’s #1 source of metals market information. Seems Trump Admin. Open To Dialogue on Mining - Newmont CEO

04:58
There are lots of factors that could potentially work in the mining sector’s favour, one of which could be President Trump. Speaking with Kitco News, Newmont CEO Gary Goldberg said it seems like the Trump administration is ‘open to dialogue on regulations’ and looking to make changes to the corporate tax rate, all of which would help the industry. Goldberg also comments on the current gold price. Shut Down Exploration, The Market Wouldn't Notice - CEO | Kitco News

07:50
Kitco News continues coverage of Gold Stock Analyst Investor Day with Franco-Nevada's CEO David Harquail, who says that despite most wealth in mining being generated from new discoveries, he thinks investors are not interested in exploration companies these days. "Now [investors are] rewarding companies like ourselves that do no exploration...and companies that are actually doing exploration have a discounted valuation," he notes, adding that if exploration were to completely shut down the price of gold wouldn't be impacted. "The reality is if there were no new gold mines, there would still be a very vibrant gold market," he says. Kitco News, February 23, 2015. Franco-Nevada’s Lassonde Talks China, Gold & U.S. Rates

04:22
Sitting with Kitco News at the BMO Metals & Mining Conference, mining magnate Pierre Lassonde says he remains positive on gold in the coming year. However, he says one of the big factors is whether interest rates continue to climb higher. Lassonde also held to his belief that most central banks around the world do not take into account gold and gold prices. According to Lassonde, the possibility of negative rates will be the biggest driver of gold prices this year. He also commented on China’s interest in gold and whether or not there is a possiblity that the Chinese might try and create a gold-backed yuan. Frank Holmes On Gold: “If You’re Not Long You’re Wrong”

04:18
The recent pullback on gold prices from the 2019 high of $1,345 an ounce is of no concern to Frank Holmes, CEO of U.S. Global Investors. “Who cares,” Holmes said to Kitco News on the sidelines of the BMO Global Metals & Mining Conference. “It’s a buying opportunity. Gold Could Surge To $8,000/oz On NIRP – Pierre Lassonde

06:05
Gold Could Surge To $8,000/oz On NIRP – Pierre Lassonde During strong gold bull markets, the price of gold often hits a one-to-one ratio with the Dow Jones industrial average, says the chairman of Franco-Nevada Mining and former president of Newmont Mining. That means gold could surge to US$8,000 an ounce or even higher, he says. “In 1980 gold was at US$800 and the Dow was at 800; in 1934 gold was US$36 and the Dow was at 37 – where is the Dow today? Do I know it’s going to go back to 1:1 – I don’t know… even if it gets to 2:1, that’s US$8,000 –.
Why $1,400 Gold Is So Critical Says Amir Adnani

08:02
$1,400 an ounce for gold is a price level not seen in six to seven years, and is a level that is needed to kick mining projects into overdrive, said Amir Adnani, chairman of GoldMining and CEO of UEC. “It’s a mark that from a standpoint of project development, makes many other projects that are maybe borderline economic or just need that extra move in the gold price to become interesting and economic, and also it’s the price that makes most intermediate gold producers start to trade at a premium to [net asset value],” Adnani told Kitco News on the sidelines of the PDAC 2019. Once miners start trading at a premium, they will start focusing on the growth pipeline, making exploration and development much more positive. _________________________________________________________________ Kitco News is the world’s #1 source of metals market information. Jeff Clark: China/India Gold Demand Still Very Strong, Precious Metal Miners Struggling

46:21
Jason Burack of Wall St for Main St interviewed first time guest, Senior Precious Metals Analyst at GoldSilver.com, Jeff Clark. Jeff was a former mining analyst and newsletter writer at Casey Research where he wrote the Big Gold investment newsletter. Jeff writes a gold market newsletter for GoldSilver.com and his also writes articles for their blog https://goldsilver.com/blog/ Here's some of the questions and topics Jason asks Jeff about during this 30+ minute interview: 1) There was record physical gold withdrawals in November 2016 and February 2017 from the Shanghai Gold Exchange yet many mainstream gold organizations like the World Gold Council, GFMS, etc claim gold demand is weak. What's your take on demand for physical gold globally? 2) The gold to silver ratio is around 71. Do you think this means that silver is the better long term value relative to gold at this point? 3) I want to talk about the primary gold and silver mining industry. Do you think that in general the industry has done a good job at cutting costs in order to survive since gold hit $1900 and silver hit $48 in 2011 and a cyclical bear market started? 4) In December 2016, Bloomberg ran a story showing how primary gold miners are running out of economic gold reserves https://www.bloomberg.com/ news/articles/2016-12-21/gold- miners-are-running-out-of- metal-five-charts-explaining- why Do you think the industry can replace reserves at current gold and silver prices or will gold and silver prices have to go substantially higher to maintain current production levels and also to replace mined/depleted reserves? 5) Can primary gold and silver miners significantly cut more costs without shutting down mines or going bankrupt? 6) The CEO of Franco Nevada recently said that it will almost be impossible for the gold mining industry to grow production beyond current production levels. Do you agree with him? https://www.bloomberg.com/ news/articles/2017-03-01/gold- miners-running-to-stand-still- after-cuts-franco-ceo-says 7) Large gold mining companies like Barrick Gold, Newmont Mining and Goldcorp have written off their proven and probable gold reserves since 2012. Reserves have declined to 61%, 62% and 69% of the 2012 heydays. Is the gold mining industry facing very difficult supply problems now and in the future? http://seekingalpha.com/ article/4056567-resource- sector-digest-acquisition- targets Please visit the Wall St for Main St website here: http://www.wallstformainst.com/ Follow Jason Burack on Twitter @JasonEBurack Follow Mo Dawoud on Twitter @m0dawoud Follow Wall St for Main St on Twitter @WallStforMainSt Commit to tipping us monthly for our hard work creating high level, thought proving content about investing and the economy https://www.patreon.com/wallstformainst Also, please take 5 minutes to leave us a good iTunes review here! Crowdfunding in Mining; Hit or Miss?

It is usually slow for the mining sector to embrace new technologies, but according to one speaker at the Mines & Money event, crowdfunding may be indicative of how the sector raises capital in the future. What is POSEIDON BUBBLE? What does POSEIDON BUBBLE mean? POSEIDON BUBBLE meaning & explanation

SUBSCRIBE to our Google Earth flights channel - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6UuCPh7GrXznZi0Hz2YQnQ The Poseidon bubble was a stock market bubble in which the price of Australian mining shares soared in late 1969, then crashed in early 1970. It was triggered by the Poseidon NL company's discovery of a promising site for nickel mining in September 1969. In the late 1960s, nickel was in high demand due to the Vietnam War, but there was a shortage of supply due to industrial action against the major Canadian supplier Inco. These factors pushed the price of nickel to record levels, peaking at around L7,000/ton on the London market early in November 1969. In September 1969, the mining company Poseidon NL made a major nickel discovery at Windarra in the Shire of Laverton, Western Australia. In early September their shares had been trading at $0.80, but as information about the discovery was released, the price rose until it was trading at $12.30 on October 1. After this, very little further information came to light, but the price continued to climb due to speculation; at one point, a UK broker suggested a value of up to $382 a share. The price of Poseidon shares quickly became too high for many investors, so some turned to other nickel stocks, stocks in other mines near Windarra, and eventually other mining stocks in general. As the price of mining shares grew, new companies were listed by promoters looking to cash in. Mining stocks peaked in January 1970, then immediately crashed. Poseidon shares peaked at an intraday high of $280 in February 1970, and fell rapidly thereafter. By the time Poseidon actually started producing nickel, the price of nickel had fallen. Also, the nickel ore was of a lower grade than originally thought, so extraction costs were higher. Profits from the mine were not sufficient to keep Poseidon afloat, and in 1976 it delisted. Western Mining then took over the mine, operating it until 1991. In 1974, The Rae Committee handed down its report on the Poseidon bubble, in which it documented numerous cases of improper trade practices. It recommended a number of changes to the regulation of stock markets, which ultimately led to Australia's national companies and securities legislation. In the late 1980s, Robert Champion de Crespigny took over the Poseidon Company and it became part of Normandy Mining, the largest gold miner in Australia. In 2001 Normandy Mining, including Poseidon, was taken over by the Newmont Mining Corporation, which also at that time acquired Canadian company Franco-Nevada. The acquisitions made Newmont the world's largest producer of gold at that time.

What The Mega Mergers Are Really Telling Us - CEO

04:24
The largest mergers in the mining industry are validation of the precious metals entering an uptrend, but what they really signify is a readiness of large miners buying new deposits, said Jeff Pontius, CEO of Corvus Gold. “When you look at some of these big acquisitions, they all have projects that are in late life, that are kind of their optimization projects...they’re really looking for these new discoveries,” Pontius told Kitco News on the sidelines of the BMO Global Metals & Mining Conference. _________________________________________________________________ Kitco News is the world’s #1 source of metals market information. Berger: Mergers in the gold market

01:12
http://goo.gl/CF2ICt Newmont Mining Corp. appears to have reopened merger negotiations with Barrick Gold Corp. sending the company's stock soaring. A previous deal to merge the two gold mining conglomerates fell apart in mid-April after a disagreement over the division of assets. At the company's annual meeting last week, Newmont CEO, Gary Goldberg, hinted at negotiations being resumed. The stock rallied upon the Goldberg's comments and Serge Berger, better known as The Steady Trader, is expecting the rally to continue into this week. Overall, Berger maintains a favorable stance on gold mining companies given the late cyclical bull market and increasing rate of inflation. He is looking to buy the stock at USD 26.50 with a target of USD 28.50. A stop can be placed at USD 25.40. Disclaimer Saxo Bank Group provides an execution-only service.
