Cryptosporidium Infected Organoids

02:25
Stem-cell-derived organoids recapitulate in vivo physiology of their original tissues, representing valuable systems to model medical disorders such as infectious diseases and cancer. Using small intestinal and lung organoids, here we show that apicomplexan parasite Cryptosporidium parvum can infect epithelial organoids derived from human small intestine and lung. The parasite propagates within the organoids and completes its full complex life cycle (asexual and sexual) within the organoid lumen within 120 -168 hrs. nature.com/articles/s41564-018-0177-8 Client: Hans Clevers, MD PhD Professor of Molecular Genetics Hubrecht Institute, 2018 hubrecht.eu More videos from DEMCON Nymus 3D on: demcon-nymus3d.nl More videos from DEMCON Nymus 3D on: www.demcon-nymus3d.nl

Testing for Parasites, H Pylori, Candida and Bacterial overgrowth with an at home kit

06:35
Today I'm getting ready to run a functional lab test called the GI MAP on myself and thought it would be a good time to share a little bit about the test with you and answer some of the frequently asked questions I get about this test. - What the process entails and how it can help someone solve their migraine headaches or other health concerns that aren't obviously gut related. The Diagnostic Solutions Laboratory GI Microbial Assay Plus (“GI-MAP”)includes markers for gluten sensitivity (anti-gliadin IgA), inflammation in the gut (calprotectin), immunity in the gut (SIgA), pancreatic enzyme sufficiency (elastase), and occult blood. It also looks for the presence of pathogens – including H Pylori and other bacteria, parasites, worms and viruses – in the gastrointestinal tract. We test this with nearly all of our clients and have found pathogenic bacteria and parasites consistently, even in clients who didn't have any GI symptoms at all. MARKERS INCLUDED ON THIS TEST: Bacterial Pathogens (Campylobacter, C difficile Toxin A & B, EHEC, E coli 0157, EIEC/Shigella, ETEC LT/ST, Salmonella, Shiga-like Toxins, Shigella, etc.) Parasitic Pathogens (Cryptosporidium, Entamoeba histolytica, Giardia) Viral Pathogens (Adenovirus, Norovirus, Rotavirus) H pylori (H Pylori, with 7 virulence factors) Normal Bacterial Flora (Bacteroides Fragilis, Bifidobacter, Enterococcus, E. coli, Lactobacillus, Clostridium Spp., Enterobacter Spp.) Phyla Microbiota (Bacteroidetes, Firmicutes, Bateroidetes/Firmicutes ratio) Opportunistic Bacteria (Bacillus, Enterococcus, Morganella, Pseudomonas, Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, etc) Autoimmune Triggers (Citrobacter, Klebsiella, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Prevotella Copri, Proteus Spp etc) Parasites (Blastocystis hominis, Dientamoeba fragilis, Endolimax nana, Entamoeba coli, Chilomastix mesnelli, Cyclospora, Pentatrichomonas) Fungi/Yeast (Candida albicans, Candida spp., Geotricum spp., Microsporidia spp., Rodotorula spp.) Viruses (Cytomegalovirus, Epstein Barr Virus) Worms (Ancylostoma duodenale, Ascaris lumbricoides, Necator americanus, Trichuris trichiura, Taenia spp) Additional Tests (Elastase, Steatocrit, SIgA, Anti-Gliadin, Calprotectin, b-Glucuronidase, Occult Blood) Antibiotic Resistance Genes To detect pathogens, the lab uses Real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), or quantitative PCR (qPCR), which combines amplification and detection into one step. qPCR “is one of the most powerful and sensitive gene analysis techniques available to detect the DNA of microorganisms. How does this work? You will receive a sample kit from the lab, take a stool sample at home and mail it in to the lab with the enclosed shipping envelope. After receiving your test results in ~3 weeks, you will meet with one of our experienced functional nutritionists who will show you how to interpret your results and help you make a holistic self-care plan to restore integrity to your gut. You will receive a written, comprehensive 90-day health plan based on the results of your GI MAP test. Retesting is recommended in 3-4 months for most cases. Find out more about working with our team here: https://www.engineeringradiance.com/work-with-us/ And specific information about consulting with us about a GI Map test: https://bit.ly/2I8NcC4 The cost of the test and shipping is NOT included in this consult fee because this is paid directly to the laboratory and varies based on your location. US Test pricing (as of March 2018) GI MAP Pathogen Screen - $419 (restrictions apply in NY State, please contact us before ordering or use alternate address) International testing IS available. Contact us at [email protected] for specifics. Disclaimer: Nothing in our consultations is designed to to diagnose or treat ANY diseases and you will be referred to take the results to a licensed physician if pathogens are detected.

Symptoms vary depending on the cause, and are described below in this article. A few broad generalizations can be made, e.g.: The incubation period ranges from hours to days, depending on the cause and on how much was consumed. The incubation period tends to cause sufferers to not associate the symptoms with the item consumed, and so to cause sufferers to attribute the symptoms to gastroenteritis for example. Symptoms often include vomiting, fever, and aches, and may include diarrhea. Bouts of vomiting can be repeated with an extended delay in between, because even if infected food was eliminated from the stomach in the first bout, microbes (if applicable) can pass through the stomach into the intestine and begin to multiply. Some types of microbes stay in the intestine, some produce a toxin that is absorbed into the bloodstream, and some can directly invade deeper body tissues.
