CAREERS IN DATA ANALYTICS - Salary , Job Positions , Top Recruiters
CAREERS IN DATA ANALYTICS - Salary , Job Positions , Top Recruiters What IS DATA ANALYTICS? Data analytics (DA) is the process of examining data sets in order to draw conclusions about the information they contain, increasingly with the aid of specialized systems and software. Data analytics technologies and techniques are widely used in commercial industries to enable organizations to make more-informed business decisions and by scientists and researchers to verify or disprove scientific models, theories and hypotheses. As a term, data analytics predominantly refers to an assortment of applications, from basic business intelligence (BI), reporting and online analytical processing (OLAP) to various forms of advanced analytics. In that sense, it's similar in nature to business analytics, another umbrella term for approaches to analyzing data -- with the difference that the latter is oriented to business uses, while data analytics has a broader focus. The expansive view of the term isn't universal, though: In some cases, people use data analytics specifically to mean advanced analytics, treating BI as a separate category. Data analytics initiatives can help businesses increase revenues, improve operational efficiency, optimize marketing campaigns and customer service efforts, respond more quickly to emerging market trends and gain a competitive edge over rivals -- all with the ultimate goal of boosting business performance. Depending on the particular application, the data that's analyzed can consist of either historical records or new information that has been processed for real-time analytics uses. In addition, it can come from a mix of internal systems and external data sources. Types of data analytics applications : At a high level, data analytics methodologies include exploratory data analysis (EDA), which aims to find patterns and relationships in data, and confirmatory data analysis (CDA), which applies statistical techniques to determine whether hypotheses about a data set are true or false. EDA is often compared to detective work, while CDA is akin to the work of a judge or jury during a court trial -- a distinction first drawn by statistician John W. Tukey in his 1977 book Exploratory Data Analysis. Data analytics can also be separated into quantitative data analysis and qualitative data analysis. The former involves analysis of numerical data with quantifiable variables that can be compared or measured statistically. The qualitative approach is more interpretive -- it focuses on understanding the content of non-numerical data like text, images, audio and video, including common phrases, themes and points of view. At the application level, BI and reporting provides business executives and other corporate workers with actionable information about key performance indicators, business operations, customers and more. In the past, data queries and reports typically were created for end users by BI developers working in IT or for a centralized BI team; now, organizations increasingly use self-service BI tools that let execs, business analysts and operational workers run their own ad hoc queries and build reports themselves. Whats The Role Of Machine Learning In Fast Data And Streaming Applications
Machine Learning (ML)–and its subset Deep Learning (DL)–have evolved in the last decade to take an often hidden role in everyday system infrastructures. From self-driving cars to real- time credit card fraud detection to real-time personalization, organizations are using ML to improve customer interactions with systems that can train themselves–using algorithms and historical data–to actively manage complex scenarios without being explicitly programmed. Yet in isolation, even the best ML algorithm will have limited usefulness to businesses. To create advanced offerings to set your business apart from your competitors, streaming and Fast Data applications must be able to process, learn from, and respond to a never ending stream of data. This webinar by Emre Velipasaoglu, Principal Data Scientist at Lightbend, is for busy Architects and Managers looking to get a handle on what ML is really all about, the ideal use cases for ML and how getting it right can benefit your streaming and Fast Data application architectures. At the end of this presentation, you will have learned about: Transformative ML technologies that we see being used today–such as fraud detection, marketing personalization–and a look at other emerging trends that will leverage ML, such as Internet of Things, Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality. Identifying the correct use cases for ML, i.e. understanding where machines and algorithms can help augment our human capabilities. Which technologies are available to you now for unlocking the value of your data for competitive advantage. A short overview of how Lightbend’s upcoming Fast Data Platform ties everything together to simplify your ML initiatives.

How to build a Text Mining Platform
Tiger Zhang & Lutz Finger on Text Mining Today more than ever before, we have access raw data in the form of texts. Businesses around the world store text discussions from their market research, customer care discussions, or brand relevant conversation on social media. While it is clear that texts contain valuable information, it is often less clear on how best texts can be analyzed at scale. In this class, we will share how we at LinkedIn built a scalable text-mining platform to uncover insights from text data. We will focus on two important components: THEME DISCOVERY of new content and how to CLASSIFY existing text. Using both features, we can detect emerging trends within reviews, customer care discussions and market research data. You will learn: THEME DISCOVERY - information extraction Theme recognition is a highly complex task due to the multi-facetted nature of our language. Theme Recognition (without requiring manual reviews) is, however, the main component of any text-mining platform. We will introduce an innovation in information extraction using part of speech tagging (currently patent pending) to uncover themes within textual data. TEXT CLASSIFICATIONS - Supervised Machine Learning Another important component of our NLP platform is the ability to classify text via supervised machine learning algorithms such as support vector machine (SVM). The ability to classify serves many business use-cases ranging from sentiment analytics to product identification. You will learn in our talk how to cater to those different requirements via a flexible platform setup. VALUE of DATA - Member Feedback The combined ability of Themes Discovery (new content and ideas) as well as Classifications (standard measure) creates a very effective framework to get business insights out of text data. We will demonstrate this on the use case of classifying and responding to member feedback.

Sourcing Trends 2017
Sourcing has become more complex, more data-driven and more dependent on technology over the past few years. Those trends will continue into 2017 and beyond. With so many new tools, and so much data, how can sourcers figure out what is going to be helpful and what to let go this year? In this webinar we’ll talk about some of the trends that will shape our work in the year ahead, focusing on data enrichment tools and social sourcing. We’ll discuss how sourcers, recruiters and managers can pick and choose the most appropriate data enrichment tools, and how to use targeted API searches to surface the data you need. We’ll also cover the value of mapping the candidate journey from engagement to offer and how that can help maximize the value of your data. Social sourcing has been with us for a while but it’s changing. In 2017, sourcers will have to focus on how to use social media more efficiently, while resisting the effects of automation to take a more human-centered approach. We’ll explore some approaches that work no matter the size of your business. Attendees will leave the session with a clear perspective on sourcing trends for 2017 and in particular: - How to choose the most appropriate tools and APIs to search data more efficiently - How mapping candidate journeys can help you throughout the sourcing process - Why you don’t have to be a big-name brand to get results from social media in 2017 Our speaker, Angela Bortolussi, will share her knowledge and expertise in the technical side of recruiting, emerging trends and what’s coming up for sourcers.

Predictive Analytics Takes Center Stage at the HR Technology Conference
Predictive Analytics: Say it Once, Say it Twice. According to Bill Kutik you'll be saying it a lot in 2015 if you're in HR or recruiting - "Predictive analytics is an area of data mining that deals with extracting information from data and using it to predict trends and behavior patterns. Often the unknown event of interest is in the future, but predictive analytics can be applied to any type of unknown whether it be in the past, present or future." Wikipedia Joining Peter Clayton in this special vodcast/podcast to discuss the past, present and future of HR technology (and predictive analytics in particular) is our good friend Bill Kutik - whose headline in a recent Human Resource Executive article was Predictive Analytics Dominates My First HR Tech Conference. Bill Kutik is considered the leading independent analyst of the HR technology marketplace with specialties in HCM, Recruiting, Talent Management and social networking. Since 1990, he has been Technology Columnist for Human Resource Executive® (and for HREOnline™ since 2006,), also serving as co-chairman of the magazine's famous annual conference, HR Technology® Conference & Exhibition, since it began in 1998. In 2008, he started The Bill Kutik Radio Show®, a bi-weekly online talk show with industry leaders. HR World named him one of "The Top 25 HR Influencers of 2007." More recently, he was named a "Top 25 HR Digital Influencer 2009" and a "Top 100 Influencer." Questions Peter Clayton asks Bill Kutik in this podcast: So your headline needs some explanation. You were co-chair of The HR Tech conference for 16 years! How was it being more of a participant than ringleader in Las Vegas? So take us down memory lane, Bill. When did the term predictive analytics first hit your radar screen, and who was touting it? In your article, you wrote about Dave Weisbeck, Chief Strategy Officer at Visor, who in 2011 said predictive analytics focused on Why Employees Leave? Who is most likely to be leaving next? Who is likely to become top talent and why? Do you see this as the thrust of most implementations and goals of current predictive analytics programs? So back to this year's HR Tech conference for a moment. Since you had the luxury to actually participate in the conference this year - what did you hear that you believe will most impact HR Tech in 2015? Let's talk about some of the specific companies you mention in your Human Resource Executive article, starting with Cornerstone OnDemand You write that IBM was everywhere at HR Tech And finally, and what might be most surprising and interesting - there's HireVue, a video interviewing platform getting into the predictive analytics game. What's that all about?

Why Blockchain Is Now Emerging In New Markets
Why Blockchain Is Now Emerging In New Markets Subscribe: http://bit.ly/CryptoCoinNewsYT Blockchain is most commonly associated with cryptocurrencies. For those new to these technologies they are often interpreted as one in the same. However, once an individual digs a little deeper, the differences quickly become visible and a new world full of potential is revealed. Blockchain creates opportunities through the continued development and building upon this technology. The decentralized origins through peer to peer authentications quickly evolved into smart contract layers and a variety of customizations like anonymous encryptions, faster computations, transfers and so much more. The strengths of blockchain are its ‘unbreakable’ encrypted transactions of processed data through networks of mining systems to complete a compression and seal the blocks. No, the blockchain is not really unbreakable but the processing power to decode a block basically makes it pointless to even attempt to decrypt it. Despite this secure and increasingly complex technology, the blockchain is becoming unchained as it continues to grow by way of adapting and increasing its relevance to expand into new markets. Cryptocurrency projects are being built utilizing the various blockchain algorithms to solve real world problems like international shipping, real estate transactions, renting, VIN and vehicle transparency, transaction fees, television and advertisements, crowdfunding, real privacy and anonymity, and then some. There are endless opportunities for blockchain to enter new industries. Many are discovering crypotechnologies to operate more like startups and venture capital than anonymous currencies for black market exchanges. Blockchain has slowly implemented itself into these industries and will gradually become an accepted and welcomed piece of technology because of its capabilities… but wait there’s more. Data-Ed Online: Emerging Trends in Data Jobs
Data is the lifeblood of just about every organization and functional area today. As businesses struggle to come to grips with the data flood, it is even more critical to focus on data as an asset that directly supports business imperatives as other organizational assets do. Organizations across most industries attempt to address data opportunities (e.g. Big Data) and data challenges (e.g. data quality) to enhance business unit performance. Unfortunately however, the results of these efforts frequently fall far below expectations due to haphazard approaches. Overall, poor organizational data management capabilities are the root cause of many of these failures. This webinar covers three lessons (illustrated by examples), which will help you to establish realistic OM plans and expectations, and help demonstrate the value of such actions to both internal and external decision makers. Takeaways: Organizational thinking must change: Value-added data management practices must be considered and included as a vital part of your business strategy. Walk before you run with data focused initiatives: Understand and implement necessary data management prerequisites as a foundation, then build upon that foundation. There are no silver bullets: Tools alone are not the answer. Specifying business requirements, business practices and data governance are almost always more important.

Susan Wegner (Deutsche Telekom) - Future Analytics and Big Data
This video was recorded at Computing Conference 2016 - http://saiconference.com/Computing Around the world, data volumes are increasing dramatically, the revenue and savings potential resulting from this growth are enormous. Telekom Innovation Laboratories (T-Labs) is playing a central role in helping Deutsche Telekom to face the challenges posed by this trend and to shape this burgeoning market. When it comes to data analytics, T-Labs is working on concepts for cost-effectively handling and utilization of extremely huge volumes of data. We explore artificial intelligence based data analytics methods to develop innovative and smart applications. In her talk Dr. Susan Wegner will briefly explain operational model of Deutsche Telekom which helps harnessing Big Data and demonstrate how T-Labs applies data analytics to solve real challenges. She will talk about an already launched project – Motionlogic. Motionlogic provides sound analyses of traffic and movement streams based on anonymous signalling data from the mobile communication and WiFi network to answer questions that previously couldn't be analysed or that could only be done so at great expense. As well, heard of smart data analytics will present some of the current R&D activities: Synthetic Data and Network Outages Analysis. Synthetic Data offers the chance to use data which usually isn't available for legal or ethical reasons. Data modeling and the use of appropriate algorithms allow to create artificial synthetic data that has the same characteristics as the original data without being reducible to real individuals. The main goal of Network Outages Analysis is improvement of network outage management using data-driven prediction. The T-Labs’ team investigates how the complexity of the network topology affects the potential for or the severity of power outages. About Susan Wegner : Dr. Wegner is responsible for the innovation field “Smart Data Analytics & Communications” of Telekom Innovation Laboratories. The focus areas within this field are strategically derived from the key drivers of future telecommunication business: web-based Communication, Big Data and User Driven Innovation. "Data Analytics" is an important area within this field, with considerable activity going towards establishing Deutsche Telekom as a safe and transparent innovation partner in this emerging market. To ensure that new innovative solutions go quickly to market, smaller companies like "Motionlogic" have been established in the form of new ventures. Dr. Susan Wegner studied Computer Science and Mathematics at the Technical University of Berlin and at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is married and has over 10 years’ experience in designing and managing innovation development within the Deutsche Telekom group.
