A hard hat is a type of helmet predominantly used in workplace environments such as industrial or construction sites to protect the head from injury due to falling objects, impact with other objects, debris, rain, and electric shock. Suspension bands inside the helmet spreads the helmet's weight and the force of any impact over the top of the head. A suspension also provides space of approximately 30 mm between the helmet's shell and the wearer's head, so that if an object strikes the shell, the impact is less likely to be transmitted directly to the skull. Some helmet shells have a mid-line reinforcement ridge to improve impact resistance. Blue-collar workers, especially union shop construction workers engaged in occupations that require protective equipment are sometimes referred to as "hard hats". Russian/Nat More than 200 miners from Russia's far north converged on the capital to protest nonpayment of wages and call for the resignation of President Boris Yeltsin. It was the latest in a series of protests by miners who have previously blocked vital rail links across Russia, gone on hunger strikes and taken their bosses hostage. Moscow's Yaroslavsky station was the starting point on Thursday as hundreds of miners from the arctic region of Vorkhuta arrived in the Russian capital for a march on the government headquarters. Just last week the Russian government agreed to immediately pay back wages to miners from the Kemerevo region after they blocked vital railway lines linking Siberia to western Russia. But miners said on Thursday they were also outraged by reform plans which would close down mines and cut jobs. SOUNDBITE: (Russian) ''We're fed up with these supposed reforms. If the bureaucrats here don't know what owing wages means -- and we haven't received ours for months -- then we'll show them.'' SUPER CAPTION: Vyacheslav Uvarov, Miner from Vorkhuta Thursday's march got the backing of politicians from both ends of the spectrum. Ultra-nationalist politician Vladimir Zhirinovsky was on hand to greet the miners, as were several Communist hard liners, including the leader of the Working Russia party, Viktor Anpilov. On an unnaturally hot day for June in Moscow, the marchers donned their mining helmets and walked the 10-kilometre (6-mile) stretch to the White House, Russia's seat of government. It was the support of workers from Vorkhuta in 1989 and 1991 which helped President Yeltsin in his fight for political survival. On Thursday, their banners reflected a change in mood -- criticising Yeltsin for not providing more help in their hour of need. Although the president's car drove past the White House, Yeltsin didn't stop to meet the miners. They plan to hold a 24-hour vigil until their demands are met. SOUNDBITE: (Russian) ''Our beloved President Yeltsin always likes to say he's a guarantor of the constitution. It's time for him to account for himself.'' SUPER CAPTION: Boris Markovkin, Protesting Miner SOUNDBITE: (Russian) ''We don't believe Yeltsin. On the other hand we are not calling for revolution. Communist, capitalist we don't care who is in power we just want our salaries paid and to live in peace.'' SUPER CAPTION: Sergei Anikin, Protesting Miner In the past, such protests have drawn top officials out of the White House to talk to the crowds. This time, no one in the government paid the miners a visit. Given the economic crisis, and no indication yet that the I-M-F or the G-7 will bail out the Russian government, these miners may find their demands fall on deaf ears. In 1977, Henry Moore discovered that the city of Wakefield was fundraising to buy one print from his series Stonehenge (1973) and promptly donated a complete set to the collection. This series can be seen in its entirety at The Hepworth Wakefield, alongside important sculptures and drawings of coal miners from the 1940s, showing Moore's continued exploration of stone, texture and form. And there is a lot of track to chug around. The whole track set is more than 4.5 feet wide when set up following the instructions. You can create your own configurations, too. Plus, it has nine SmartPoint locations, and when the freight train rides over one of these SmartPoints, kids will hear fun phrases (“Here I go!”, “Head to the gold mine!”), music, train sound effects, and more. Off the track, kids can press the train’s light-up button to hear more phrases, music, and tunes. It will tell kids its name (“I’m Forrest. I’m a fabulous freight train!”), talk about the letter “F” (“’F’ is for freight train!”), and sing three sing-along songs. There are more than 45 songs, melodies, sounds, and phrases for kids to discover with the train both on and off the track. The train is motorized, but if kids want to push the train around the track themselves, just flip the switch to manual mode. Kids can also play with the track set’s other features. Pretend to mine for gold in the mountain by hammering the three shape sorter blocks through the mineshaft using the mine hammer. Each piece will roll down the mountain where it can be loaded onto the train. As the train pushes through the gate in front of the mountain, a shape sorter block will be released into the cargo car. Or wait for the cargo car to pass under the mineshaft and try to hammer the shape sorter blocks onto it. The gold mine also includes rotating gears and a crane for moving the shapes around. The track and the train are compatible with other Go! Go! Smart Wheels and Go! Go! Smart Animals playsets and vehicles, which are sold separately. ✮SEE MORE TOYS✮ BATMAN V SUPERMAN: http://ttpm.com/p/17136/mattel/batman-v-superman-batman-voice-changer-helmet/?ref=yt YO-KAI WATCH: http://ttpm.com/p/16703/hasbro/yokai-watch-noko/?ref=yt TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES PARTY WAGON: http://ttpm.com/p/16637/mega-bloks/teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles-party-wagon/?ref=yt ✮SUBSCRIBE TTPM Toy Reviews✮ https://www.youtube.com/c/ttpm ✮SUBSCRIBE TTPM Baby Gear Reviews✮ https://www.youtube.com/c/ttpmbaby ✮SUBSCRIBE TTPM Pet Toys & Gear Reviews✮ https://www.youtube.com/c/ttpmpets ✮SUBSCRIBE TTPM First Look Toys Unboxing✮ https://www.youtube.com/c/ttpmfirstlooktoys ✮FOLLOW US✮ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TTPMOfficial Twitter: https://twitter.com/ttpm Instagram: https://instagram.com/ttpmofficial/ Pinterest: https://www.pinterest.com/ttpmofficial/ Snapchat: TTPMOfficial: https://www.snapchat.com/add/ttpmofficial ✮FOLLOW TTPM Baby✮ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TTPMBaby/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/TTPMbaby Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/ttpmbaby/ ✮FOLLOW TTPM Pets✮ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TTPMPets Twitter: https://twitter.com/TTPMPets Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/ttpmpets/ Pinterest: https://www.pinterest.com/ttpmpets/ Disclosure: Toys reviewed by TTPM are selected by the TTPM editorial team from submissions from manufacturers who provide the samples for review consideration. Many upset Hooversville could be eliminated.Currently Hooversville, Richland, and Stoystown fire departments cover Shade Township, but Hooversville may get cut based on the current proposal.Under the new plan, Windber would step in and replace both Richland and Hooversville. This would leave the latter with no funds from Shade Township taxpayers.Shade Township supervisor John Topka told 6 News Wednesday the main reason for possibly eliminating Hooversville is because Windber is offering an ambulance service, something the community needs.Topka offered no comment after the meeting.Topka and Windber's fire chief says Hooversville would still get called to fires. The Shade Township supervisors say they hope to have a decision made by September but wouldn't make any guarantee.

Our Miss Brooks is an American situation comedy starring Eve Arden as a sardonic high school English teacher. It began as a radio show broadcast from 1948 to 1957. When the show was adapted to television (1952--56), it became one of the medium's earliest hits. In 1956, the sitcom was adapted for big screen in the film of the same name. Connie (Constance) Brooks (Eve Arden), an English teacher at fictional Madison High School. Osgood Conklin (Gale Gordon), blustery, gruff, crooked and unsympathetic Madison High principal, a near-constant pain to his faculty and students. (Conklin was played by Joseph Forte in the show's first episode; Gordon succeeded him for the rest of the series' run.) Occasionally Conklin would rig competitions at the school--such as that for prom queen--so that his daughter Harriet would win. Walter Denton (Richard Crenna, billed at the time as Dick Crenna), a Madison High student, well-intentioned and clumsy, with a nasally high, cracking voice, often driving Miss Brooks (his self-professed favorite teacher) to school in a broken-down jalopy. Miss Brooks' references to her own usually-in-the-shop car became one of the show's running gags. Philip Boynton (Jeff Chandler on radio, billed sometimes under his birth name Ira Grossel); Robert Rockwell on both radio and television), Madison High biology teacher, the shy and often clueless object of Miss Brooks' affections. Margaret Davis (Jane Morgan), Miss Brooks' absentminded landlady, whose two trademarks are a cat named Minerva, and a penchant for whipping up exotic and often inedible breakfasts. Harriet Conklin (Gloria McMillan), Madison High student and daughter of principal Conklin. A sometime love interest for Walter Denton, Harriet was honest and guileless with none of her father's malevolence and dishonesty. Stretch (Fabian) Snodgrass (Leonard Smith), dull-witted Madison High athletic star and Walter's best friend. Daisy Enright (Mary Jane Croft), Madison High English teacher, and a scheming professional and romantic rival to Miss Brooks. Jacques Monet (Gerald Mohr), a French teacher. Our Miss Brooks was a hit on radio from the outset; within eight months of its launch as a regular series, the show landed several honors, including four for Eve Arden, who won polls in four individual publications of the time. Arden had actually been the third choice to play the title role. Harry Ackerman, West Coast director of programming, wanted Shirley Booth for the part, but as he told historian Gerald Nachman many years later, he realized Booth was too focused on the underpaid downside of public school teaching at the time to have fun with the role. Lucille Ball was believed to have been the next choice, but she was already committed to My Favorite Husband and didn't audition. Chairman Bill Paley, who was friendly with Arden, persuaded her to audition for the part. With a slightly rewritten audition script--Osgood Conklin, for example, was originally written as a school board president but was now written as the incoming new Madison principal--Arden agreed to give the newly-revamped show a try. Produced by Larry Berns and written by director Al Lewis, Our Miss Brooks premiered on July 19, 1948. According to radio critic John Crosby, her lines were very "feline" in dialogue scenes with principal Conklin and would-be boyfriend Boynton, with sharp, witty comebacks. The interplay between the cast--blustery Conklin, nebbishy Denton, accommodating Harriet, absentminded Mrs. Davis, clueless Boynton, scheming Miss Enright--also received positive reviews. Arden won a radio listeners' poll by Radio Mirror magazine as the top ranking comedienne of 1948-49, receiving her award at the end of an Our Miss Brooks broadcast that March. "I'm certainly going to try in the coming months to merit the honor you've bestowed upon me, because I understand that if I win this two years in a row, I get to keep Mr. Boynton," she joked. But she was also a hit with the critics; a winter 1949 poll of newspaper and magazine radio editors taken by Motion Picture Daily named her the year's best radio comedienne. For its entire radio life, the show was sponsored by Colgate-Palmolive-Peet, promoting Palmolive soap, Lustre Creme shampoo and Toni hair care products. The radio series continued until 1957, a year after its television life ended. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Our_Miss_Brooks

My advice is this: Settle! That's right. Don't worry about passion or intense connection. Don't nix a guy based on his annoying habit of yelling "Bravo!" in movie theaters. Overlook his halitosis or abysmal sense of aesthetics. Because if you want to have the infrastructure in place to have a family, settling is the way to go. Based on my observations, in fact, settling will probably make you happier in the long run, since many of those who marry with great expectations become more disillusioned with each passing year. (It's hard to maintain that level of zing when the conversation morphs into discussions about who's changing the diapers or balancing the checkbook.) Obviously, I wasn't always an advocate of settling. In fact, it took not settling to make me realize that settling is the better option, and even though settling is a rampant phenomenon, talking about it in a positive light makes people profoundly uncomfortable. Whenever I make the case for settling, people look at me with creased brows of disapproval or frowns of disappointment, the way a child might look at an older sibling who just informed her that Jerry's Kids aren't going to walk, even if you send them money. It's not only politically incorrect to get behind settling, it's downright un-American. Our culture tells us to keep our eyes on the prize (while our mothers, who know better, tell us not to be so picky), and the theme of holding out for true love (whatever that is—look at the divorce rate) permeates our collective mentality. Even situation comedies, starting in the 1970s with The Mary Tyler Moore Show and going all the way to Friends, feature endearing single women in the dating trenches, and there's supposed to be something romantic and even heroic about their search for true love. Of course, the crucial difference is that, whereas the earlier series begins after Mary has been jilted by her fiancé, the more modern-day Friends opens as Rachel Green leaves her nice-guy orthodontist fiancé at the altar simply because she isn't feeling it. But either way, in episode after episode, as both women continue to be unlucky in love, settling starts to look pretty darn appealing. Mary is supposed to be contentedly independent and fulfilled by her newsroom family, but in fact her life seems lonely. Are we to assume that at the end of the series, Mary, by then in her late 30s, found her soul mate after the lights in the newsroom went out and her work family was disbanded? If her experience was anything like mine or that of my single friends, it's unlikely. And while Rachel and her supposed soul mate, Ross, finally get together (for the umpteenth time) in the finale of Friends, do we feel confident that she'll be happier with Ross than she would have been had she settled down with Barry, the orthodontist, 10 years earlier? She and Ross have passion but have never had long-term stability, and the fireworks she experiences with him but not with Barry might actually turn out to be a liability, given how many times their relationship has already gone up in flames. It's equally questionable whether Sex and the City's Carrie Bradshaw, who cheated on her kindhearted and generous boyfriend, Aidan, only to end up with the more exciting but self-absorbed Mr. Big, will be better off in the framework of marriage and family. (Some time after the breakup, when Carrie ran into Aidan on the street, he was carrying his infant in a Baby Björn. Can anyone imagine Mr. Big walking around with a Björn?)
