How to compile source code in Ubuntu Linux

08:30
So, your favourite Linux game does not have an installation package for your Linux distribution, but it is open source and you want to compile it from the developer's source code. Some users may need to install the make compiler packages from your software manager, however I am currently running Ubuntu 15.10 and it is already included in my distro. Otherwise, compiling from source is very easy in Ubuntu!! Step 1 - Get source code from developer Step 2 - Extract Source Step 3 - Open source folder in a terminal window Step 4 - Run command './configure' Step 5 - Run command 'make' Step 6 - Run command 'make install' The make install command should install the application into Ubuntu, however this is not always the case. In my scenario, this step fails, however the application is still compiled, and available to run. The application files, and executable will be located in a folder usually called 'Bundle'. Hope this simple tutorial helps!!

Python 3 Programming Tutorial - Installing modules

07:44
At this point, you've got all the basics necessary to start employing modules. We still have to teach classes, among a few other necessary basics, but now would be a good time to talk about modules. IF you are using linux, installing Python modules is incredibly stupid easy. For programming, linux is just lovely when it comes to installing packages for just about whatever. I believe mac allows similar treatment, though I've not done it myself. When I was first starting out with Python, installing modules was one of the most difficult things, for a few reasons. Mainly, with windows, there are quite a few methods for installation of modules. you've got pip install setuptools, download and click'n'drag, or setup.py At the time of starting Python, a large part of my troubles was that I didn't actually understand the process of getting a module, and this is obviously very frustrating. Python is going to look in a few places for modules. That's going to be site-packages and the script's directory for the most part. There are some other places you can use, but let's leave them out of it. Knowing this allows you yourself to make your own modules, in the form of just a script if you want, putting that in the same directory as your main script, and then using import to bring it on board, you can also place multiple scripts in a dir and use that. Once you begin to familiarize yourself with this, and understand how and why things work, it will help you a lot. Installing Ethereum in Debian 9 (Stretch)

12:55
The Crypto Dad shows you how to set up the Ethereum wallet in Debian 9 (Stretch). We go through downloading (with verification) and installing the Ethereum wallet. Important software used is: Ethereum Project Home page: https://electrum.org/#home Software verification is done with: The Debian Built-in Sha256sum command The Verification can be done with the command: sha256sum (path/filename) In this case it is: sha256sum Ethereum-Wallet-linux64-0-9-2.deb You can also use my “shortcut” so you don’t have to inspect both hashes manually. The full command is: Sha256sum -c (3 right facing ankle brackets) “4cd4cd7b7acfc4e72ffece7c63e685a87cd13de68957f98e1d20e262449d4c1e * Ethereum-Wallet-linux64-0-9-2.deb” unfortunately, I can't use real ankle-brackets in a YouTube description! To download and install gdebi, use: “sudo apt install gdebi” in your Debian command line Donate Bitcoin: 1JBxwXG8P6PYKKsrHKzQduM8s8RoV3dnjr What is the Ethereum wallet? The Ethereum wallet is software that runs on your computer. It is an application that allows you to send, receive and store ether tokens. It also has advanced features that allow you to check your current balance, see a list of transactions, and even maintain several “wallets”. It does this by allowing you to access a ether address on the Ethereum blockchain. Access to a ether address is provided by a cryptographic key-pair. The key-pair is a public/private asymmetric cryptographic key. The public key is the receiving address. This is the address you can share with others, so they can send you ether. The private key is the part that allows you to send ether. The Ethereum software creates a new key-pair whenever you create a new wallet. It stores the private key on your computer. Access to the private key is enhanced by a password or your own choosing that you can set when the wallet is created. Best practice is to choose a strong password for your Ethereum Wallet. What is Ethereum? Ethereum in a cryptocurrency with advanced features. It is much more than just a currency. It is a software system based on Blockchain technology. Using the Ethereum network, peer-to-peer trusted contracts or agreements can be created that do not require a central authority for compliance. Contracts are guaranteed by cryptography. The Ethereum network can also be used for software development. Ethereum is one of the most interesting developments in modern cryptography. It just might bring about a sea-change in the way we interact with each other! It is similar to the transformative changes brought about by the development of the Internet.

Linux is a completely free piece of software started by Linus Torvalds and supported by thousands of programmers worldwide. Of course, the thing that people want is application software: programs to help them get what they want to do done, from editing documents to running a business to playing games to writing more software. Debian comes with over 50,000 packages (precompiled software that is bundled up in a nice format for easy installation on your machine) - all of it free. It's a bit like a tower. At the base is the kernel. On top of that are all the basic tools. Next is all the software that you run on the computer. How to configure Apt update to use TOR Network mirrors in Debian 9.0 (stretch)

21:33
CORRECTION: when adding the TOR repositories use "stretch" instead of "jessie" when running Debian 9.0! The Crypto Dad walks you through the preliminary steps of increasing the network security and reducing the network footprint of your secure system. Now that you have your secure Debian system installed (see below), there are a few things we need to do to configure our base system. We can then move on to installing Virtual Box and Whonix. These steps are taken from the anoymous guide which can be found here: https://anonguide.cyberguerrilla.org NOTE: BEFORE FOLLOWING THIS GUIDE, MAKE SURE THAT THE JURISDICTION THAT YOU LIVE IN DOES NOT HAVE ANY LEGAL CONSEQUENCE FOR CONNECTING TO THE TOR NETWORK! We need to be the superuser to perform the following steps 1. The first step is to set the clock to run on UTC time. We use the following command: dpkg-reconfigure tzdata We then choose “None of the above” and then choose “UTC” 2. Second we install and configure the firewall: apt install ufw and then we edit the before.rules config file with” nano /etc/ufw/before.rules press LEFT-CTRL + W and type “icmp” You will want to comment out the lines for all of the icmp codes press LEFT=CTRL + X and choose “Y” to save and then “enter” next type “ufw enable” to start the firewall. 3. Next we will install the tools and configuration files that will allow us to use Tor services when running updates and installing software. First we install the following programs with: apt install tor apt-transport-tor after this we should backup our sources.list file with: cp sources.list sources.list.bak we can now edit the sources.list file with: nano /etc/apt/sources.list we can use “LEFT-CTRL + K” multiple times to delete lines until the file is empty. Next we will paste in the following lines: deb tor+http://vwakviie2ienjx6t.onion/debian stretch main contrib deb tor+http://vwakviie2ienjx6t.onion/debian stretch-updates main contrib deb tor+http://sgvtcaew4bxjd7ln.onion/debian-security stretch/updates main contrib then we press “LEFT-CTRL + X” and type “Y” to save 4. We then disable Time satmps witht the two following commands: “echo "net.ipv4.tcp_timestamps = 0" (left angle bracket..see video) /etc/sysctl.d/tcp_timestamps.conf” “sysctl -p /etc/sysctl.d/tcp_timestamps.conf” 5. finally we will diable the IPv6 Protocol by editing the GRUB file nano /etc/default/grub edit the line that says ‘GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=”quiet”’ to say ‘GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT= “ipv6.disable=1 quiet”’ then we press “LEFT-CTRL + X” and type “Y” to save after that we run “update-grub” and that is it! We can run apt update to test out our new configuration. If you want to install the base system, you should follow my previous videos: This configuration is designed to give us a secure and private operating system. From here we can add and configure additional privacy and anonymity tools such as Tor, Whonix and VPNs. What you will need: 1. Computer (Laptop or desktop) 2. Internet connection (wired preferred) 3. Installer Media (CD-ROM or Flash Drive) 4. SSD Hard Drive 5. USB Flash Drive (small profile) 6. Time and Patience You can find the other parts of this tutorial here: Intro: (overview and gathering materials) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_-19EyKdLs&t=180s Part 1: (Initial set-up and format encrypted drive) here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=etzJAG_H5F8 Part 2: (partition encrypted drive and download software form mirrors) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJdBIigQcVw Part 3: (install Grub boot-loader and finish installation) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JyA4owRVUls Part 4: (Creating key file and moving it to boot drive) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=upOqR4HPi60 Part 5: (removing pass-phrase key and shredding copy of key-file on the hard drive) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=APjHjCUtRT0 Here is the website where you can download the latest version of Debian Linux https://www.debian.org/ The software for writing the installer to a boot-able flash drive and can be found here: Win32 Disk Imager https://sourceforge.net/projects/win32diskimager/ If you prefer to write your installer image to a CD-ROM, I would highly recommend Power ISO https://www.poweriso.com/ Donate Bitcoin: 1JBxwXG8P6PYKKsrHKzQduM8s8RoV3dnjr

How to Dowload and Verify the Whonix Operating Sytem for Virtual box in Debian 9.0 (Stretch)

23:03
The Crypto Dad walks you through the download and verification of the Whonix Operating system. The Whonix Operating system is comprised of two main components; the Whonix Gateway and the Whonix workstation. Both of these components are virtual machine images that run within the Virtual Box system. These steps are taken from the anoymous guide which can be found here: https://anonguide.cyberguerrilla.org I will show two ways to download: 1. Using torsocks on the command line 2. Directly from the Whonix website using a VPN The first method: launch the terminal window and execute the following commands: cd Downloads torsocks wget -c https://download.whonix.org/linux/13.0.0.1.4/Whonix-Gateway-13.0.0.1.4.ova (this will take some time) then get the workstation: torsocks wget -c https://download.whonix.org/linux/13.0.0.1.4/Whonix-Workstation-13.0.0.1.4.ova (this needs to be on one line) (this one will also take some time) Next download the signing files: torsocks wget -c https://download.whonix.org/linux/13.0.0.1.4/Whonix-Gateway-13.0.0.1.4.ova.asc and torsocks wget -c https://download.whonix.org/linux/13.0.0.1.4/Whonix-Workstation-13.0.0.1.4.ova.asc and then the signing key for the developer torsocks wget https://www.whonix.org/patrick.asc If you have a slow internet connection, this method may take way too long or fail completely. If so, you can try the second method. the second method: activate your VPN to provide some privacy then go to the following web address: https://www.whonix.org/wiki/VirtualBox click “expand” on the right side of the page next to “Download Whonix-Workstation” you can click the download link under Whonix-Gateway and Whonix-Worksation repectivly. (be sure to save these in your Downloads folder) You can then download the signing files and the developer signing keys from the web site as well. After you have dowloaded all of the files and keys using either method, execute the following commands: gpg –with-fingerprint patrick.asc (to check the fingerprint) gpg --import patrick.asc (to import the signing key into your local keychain) The fingerprint for the Whonix developer, Patrick Schleizer ([email protected]) is: 916B 8D99 C38E AF5E 8ADC 7A2A 8D66 066A 2EEA CCDA gpg –-verify Whonix-Gateway-13.0.0.1.4.ova.asc Whonix-Gateway-13.0.0.1.4.ova (you should see “Good Signature”) gpg –verify Whonix-Workstation-13.0.0.1.4.ova.asc Whonix-Workstation-13.0.0.1.4.ova (you should see “Good Signature”) If you want to install the base system, you should follow my previous videos: This configuration is designed to give us a secure and private operating system.

A basic introduction to compiling software on Ubuntu Linux. What to do with those nasty .tar.gz, .tgz files. This video covers compiling "source code" in Ubuntu Linux, stepping through from untarring .tar.gz files to doing the make install. Briefly covers dependencies. Note: not all .tar.gz files are "source code" files, sometimes they're just a bunch of files compressed (e.g. you might compress a bunch of photos and documents together for a particular project). Typically something that's source code has a src/ sub-directory and files like configure.

How to Crack Passwords in Kali Linux Using John The Ripper

11:41
*This Video is Solely for Educational Purpose* *The intentions are not to harm any SYSTEM* _________________________________________________________________ John the Ripper is a free password cracking software tool. Initially developed for the Unix operating system, it now runs on fifteen different platforms (eleven of which are architecture-specific versions of Unix, DOS, Win32, BeOS, and OpenVMS). It is one of the most popular password testing and breaking programs as it combines a number of password crackers into one package, autodetects password hash types, and includes a customizable cracker. It can be run against various encrypted password formats including several crypt password hash types most commonly found on various Unix versions (based on DES, MD5, or Blowfish), Kerberos AFS, and Windows NT/2000/XP/2003 LM hash. Additional modules have extended its ability to include MD4-based password hashes and passwords stored in LDAP, MySQL, and others John the Ripper is different from tools like Hydra. Hydra does blind brute-forcing by trying username/password combinations on a service daemon like ftp server or telnet server. John however needs the hash first. So the greater challenge for a hacker is to first get the hash that is to be cracked. Now a days hashes are more easily crackable using free rainbow tables available online. Just go to one of the sites, submit the hash and if the hash is made of a common word, then the site would show the word almost instantly. Rainbow tables basically store common words and their hashes in a large database. Larger the database, more the words covered. _________________________________________________________________ Wordlist Used: /usr/share/john/password.lst _________________________________________________________________ Subscribe and keep Supporting..... Debian GNU/Linux 7.4 "Wheezy" Install and overview | The Universal Operating System [HD]

This operating system is called Debian GNU/Linux, or simply Debian for short. Debian systems currently use the Linux kernel. Linux is a completely free piece of software started by Linus Torvalds and supported by thousands of programmers worldwide. Of course, the thing that people want is application software: programs to help them get what they want to do done, from editing documents to running a business to playing games to writing more software. Debian comes with over 20,000 packages (precompiled software that is bundled up in a nice format for easy installation on your machine) - all of it free. It's a bit like a tower.
