Vanguard Target Retirement Funds Review 2018

14:32
Vanguard Target Retirement funds are inexpensive, diversified and designed to give you a good, but not guaranteed, investment outcome by some fixed date in the future. They do this by starting with a high equity allocation then dialling down risk by moving more money into bonds as the fund approaches its target date. 7 BEST ETFs TO BUY FOR 2018 & BEYOND

06:12
In this video I discuss the best ETFs for 2018! Below is a description of the 7 ETFs. Please leave any questions or comments down below! Please "like" and "subscribe" if you are interest in future content. The first ETF I am going to recommend is the Vanguard S&P 500 ETF. The ticker for this ETF is VOO. As the name implies, this ETF tracks the S&P 500 and it has a very low expense ratio at 0.04%. This ETF has had an annualized return of over 15% since its inception in 2010. VOO currently has an annual dividend of 1.87%. This is a great ETF to get started with if you new to investing. The next ETF I recommend is the Vanguard Total Stock Market ETF. The Ticker for this ETF is VTI. Now this ETF is meant to track the entire U.S. stock market. As a result, while VOO tracks the 500 largest U.S. companies by market capitalization, VTI has more exposure to mid and small cap stocks. As a result, I suggest holding this ETF so that your overall portfolio has exposure to small and mid cap stocks as these often have great growth potential. This ETF also has a very low expense ratio at 0.04% and currently has an annual dividend of 1.75%. Another ETF I recommend is the Vanguard Total World Fund. The ticker for this ETF is VT. While VOO and VTI are great U.S. focused ETFs, the Vanguard total world fund will give you exposure to the international market as well which is beneficial when creating a diversified portfolio. This ETF has a low expense ratio at 0.11% and probably one of the best options you can hold if you only plan on having a few individual ETFs. This ETF also has a dividend of approximately 2%. The next ETF is my absolute favorite and it is the Vanguard High Yield Dividend Fund. The ticker is VYM. This ETF yields 2.72% and has an expense ratio of only 0.08%. Unlike many dividend ETFs, this ETF is extremely diversified with no more than approximately 15% in any one sector. Often times, sectors such as telecom and energy provide high dividend yields and many dividend ETFs are over concentrated in these industries. VYM is instead spread across multiple industries with technology actually being is most concentrated sector. This ETF holds all of my favorite large cap dividend stocks such as JP Morgan, Proctor and Gamble and Johnson and Johnson. If you like dividends this ETF is an absolute must. The next ETF is BND. This is the vanguard total bond fund. This fund pays a monthly dividend which annually yields 2.56%. This ETF also has a low expense ratio of 0.05%. While this ETF will not grow substantially overtime like the equity ETFs I previously mentioned, I do believe having a diversified portfolio is essential. This ETF may not look great today, but with a 10 year bull market due to correct, it could provide some stability to your portfolio during a downturn. Another ETF I am going to suggest is one of my favorite fixed income ETFs and that is PFF. This is the ishares preferred stock ETF and it yields 5.10%. The expense ratio is higher at 0.47% but the yield more than makes up for the fees. A great thing about this ETF is it pays a monthly dividend so you can continue reinvesting your dividend each month and compounding a monthly basis. Like BND, this ETF will not provide substantial price growth but it will provide a predictable fixed income stream to your portfolio. I especially recommend this ETF in a retirement portfolio as the dividends provided from this fund are not qualified and thus subject to your ordinary tax rate if not placed in a tax deferred account. The final ETF I am going to suggest is VNQ. This is the Vanguard REIT ETF. A REIT stands for a real estate investment trust. These are funds that invest in real estate and are required to distribute at least 90% of their taxable income to their owners in the form of a dividend. As a result, many REITS have favorable dividend yields in the 4-6% range. The market prices of REITS have declined in past few months due to rising interest rates. Many REITs are now at or approach 52 week lows. This is a great time to pick some up if you are a long term investor. Similar to preferred stock, I recommend owning REITs more in a tax deferred account such as an IRA or 401K. The Vanguard REIT yields 4.47% and has a low expense ratio of 0.12%. INVESTING IN INDEX FUNDS 📈 Best Vanguard Index Funds To Invest In!

05:47
In this video we will be talking about index funds and exchange traded funds or ETF's. Here are the index funds or ETF's that I recommend investing in. I recommend investing in Vanguard index funds. Vanguard index funds have some of the lowest expense ratios in the industry. While it may not seem like a lot, high expense funds could be costing you a significant amount of money in the long run. It is important to consider the expense ratio of any fund you invest in. Mutual funds typically have a much higher expense ratio compared to index funds. Here are the Vanguard index funds I recommend! This is the ETF listing as well as the index fund listing. 1. Vanguard Total Stock Market ETF ($VTI) 2. Vanguard Total International Stock ETF ($VXUS) 3. Vanguard Total World Stock ETF ($VT) 4. Vanguard Total Stock Market Index Fund ($VTSAX) 5. Vanguard Total International Stock Index Fund ($VTIAX) 6. The obvious answer would be spending too much, but that's not it. Many investors make radical changes to their portfolio because of market volatility. Colleen Jaconetti from Vanguard's Investment Strategy Group says to stick with your investment plan and spend from capital appreciation if necessary. *All investing is subject to risk, including the possible loss of the money you invest. For more information about Vanguard funds, visit vanguard.com or call 877-662-7447 to obtain a prospectus. Investment objectives, risks, charges, expenses, and other important information about a fund are contained in the prospectus; read and consider it carefully before investing.* When taking withdrawals from an IRA before age 59½, you may have to pay ordinary income tax plus a 10% federal penalty tax. Vanguard ETF Investment Allocation Models

Vanguard has a wonderful chart you should use when planning your own investments. You can slice and dice your portfolio anyway you want put remember fees and taxes are the biggest headwind you face. Keep your fees and taxes low and you will most likely outperform the vast majority of your peers. Not all the time, of course, but more often than not. So always remember, complexity does not equal investment success. Keep it Simple, Stupid is the #1 investing rule to follow. And that is what makes Vanguard so great. You can get a wonderful, low cost, low turnover (tax) portfolio with just 4 of their ETFs. And then you're done. No fuss, no mess. https://advisors.vanguard.com/iwe/pdf/FASINVMP.pdf ================================= If you like what you see, a thumbs up helps A LOT. Best ETFs EVER (Beating S&P 500) - Top Vanguard ETFs

Note: Yes, I did mess up when saying the percentage difference This video explores My 2 favorite ETFs. They are great for growth and have done a decent job beating the S&P 500. Since they Vanguard ETFs they both have extremely small expense ratios which should eat into return much. I'd say they are the best. Together they provide nice diversification between small and large capitalization companies. I like them for their price to get a wide range of the big name companies. 5 Mistakes Investors Make with ETFs | Fidelity

04:43
In this video, learn about the five biggest mistakes that investors make when buying ETFs, or exchange-traded funds. To learn the basics about ETFs, visit https://www.fidelity.com/learning-center/investment-products/etf/overview. To get started investing with ETFs, visit https://www.fidelity.com/etfs/overview To see more videos from Fidelity Investments, subscribe to: https://www.youtube.com/fidelityinvestments Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/fidelityinvestments Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/fidelity Google+: https://plus.google.com/+fidelity LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/fidelity-investments --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Let’s talk about the five biggest mistakes investors can make when buying exchange-traded funds. ETFs can be good tools for investors - when used appropriately. But with any investment, there are always things to watch out for. Number 1: Buying the Hot New Thing More than 100 new ETF products launch each year, many of them chasing the latest hot trend. Cloud computing, driverless cars, 3-D printing … you name it, there’s an ETF for that. Buying into the latest hot theme might make you big returns, but take care: These product launches may come after there has been a run up in the market. Buying at the top can be painful on the way down. Number 2: Buying Something You Don’t Understand The only thing worse than chasing the hottest trend is buying something you don’t understand. ETFs have taken institutional strategies and made them push-button-easy for everyday investors to access. Want access to commodity futures? There’s an ETF for that. 300% leverage? 200% short? Interest-rate carry plays? Yes to all. But just because you can buy something easily doesn’t mean you should. All of these funds may be good tools, but only if you know how to use them correctly. Number 3: Thinking All ETFs Are Created Equal Consider China. At the start of 2014, there were more than a dozen broad-based China ETFs. For example, had you chosen PGJ, the PowerShares Golden Dragon China ETF, at the start of the year, you would have lost more than 7% of your money. Had you instead chosen ASHR, the Deutsche Xtrackers Harvest CSI 300 China A-Shares ETF, you would have earned a 51% return. Both are “China ETFs.” Both can provide big, diversified portfolios. But ASHR has significant exposure to Chinese Ashares—largely consumer-focused stocks listed and traded on the domestic Chinese market— which performed spectacularly well in 2014. Don’t assume all ETFs are created equal. Just because two ETFs cover the same market doesn’t mean they provide the same exposure or returns. There’s no guarantee which fund will perform better in the future. But if you wanted to invest last year in the growth of the Chinese consumer and the domestic investor base there, a little bit of research would have gone a long way. Number 4: Trading…Just Because You Can Trading is central to ETFs. It’s right there in the name. But just because you can trade an ETF intraday doesn’t mean you should. Emotions are often an investor’s worst enemy. You zig when you should zag; you sell at the bottom and buy at the top. We all do sometimes. The trouble is ETFs make that even easier than traditional mutual funds. ETFs’ intraday liquidity can be great when you need to get into or out of the market quickly. But those situations are rare. Number 5: Only Using Market Orders When you do invest, consider using a limit order versus a market order. Market orders are instructions to buy or sell securities at the best possible price right now. That can work well for the most liquid ETFs, but as you move beyond the top dozen ETFs, you can find yourself getting trades executed at prices you don’t really want. Using a limit order means you agree to buy an ETF at a certain price or below, and sell it at a certain price or above. A limit order puts the control back in your hands and can help you set the price on your terms. Learn from these common mistakes to help avoid making them yourself. Should you increase your stock allocation in retirement?

6/14/2018 Webcast: Asset Allocation in Retirement How should investors think about their stock allocation as they approach and then enter retirement? IMPORTANT INFORMATION For more information about Vanguard funds or Vanguard ETFs, visit https://vgi.vg/2vRS6P2 to obtain a prospectus or, if available, a summary prospectus. Investment objectives, risks, charges, expenses, and other important information are contained in the prospectus; read and consider it carefully before investing. All investing is subject to risk, including the possible loss of the money you invest. There is no guarantee that any particular asset allocation or mix of funds will meet your investment objectives or provide you with a given level of income. Diversification does not ensure a profit or protect against a loss. Bond funds are subject to the risk that an issuer will fail to make payments on time, and that bond prices will decline because of rising interest rates or negative perceptions of an issuer's ability to make payments. Investments in target-date funds are subject to the risks of their underlying funds. The year in the fund name refers to the approximate year (the target date) when an investor in the fund would retire and leave the work force. The fund will gradually shift its emphasis from more aggressive investments to more conservative ones based on its target date. An investment in target date funds is not guaranteed at any time, including on or after the target date. This webcast is for educational purposes only. Australian ETF Selection (Vanguard)

06:49
Today I’m talking about Australian ETF Selection with a focus on Vanguard ETFs. I’ve only recently started investing in ETFs – actually, I only started earlier this year – and I think that ultimately ETFs will be the main part of my portfolio. So what’s an ETF? An ETF is an Exchange Traded Fund, that is, it’s an investment fund that is traded on a securities exchange market like the Australian ASX. They’re typically a diversified portfolio of securities that track a particular asset or index (although, there are actively managed ETFs as well that try to outperform the given market or index). So for example, VTS – Vanguard U.S. Total Market Shares Index ETF seeks to track the performance of the CRSP US Total Market Index, providing investors with exposure to a broadly diversified collection of securities that, in the aggregate, approximates the full index in terms of key characteristics. As we can see here, VTS is made up of 3638 holdings where the top 10 represent 17.2% of the total ETF. Companies like Apple, Microsoft, Alphabet, Amazon, and Facebook. So in this video, I’m going to specifically talk about which ETFs I chose and the reasons behind those decisions. First of all, I decided to buy only Vanguard ETFs. Vanguard is one of the big players and typically has low fees and a solid performance history for their index funds. I believe they were the first ones to come up with the whole idea of indexing. You can take a look for yourself at the full list of Vanguard ETFs. They include ETFs for fixed interest, property, Australian shares, international shares, and their own diversified ETFs which are made up of various proportions of the previous four categories. MY FINAL ETF PORTFOLIO 25% VAS, 25% VGS and VGAD, and 25% VAE. That covers Australia, North America, Europe and Asia. I’m planning to stick with this allocation for at least the next few years. With ETFs, you really have to. Even though they’re tradeable on the stock exchange, you’ve got to treat them like a long term investment. So if their value goes down in the short term, don’t sell them – you’d only be locking in a loss. Past performance cannot be used to predict future returns. Fund share prices will fluctuate, so investors could lose money if they sell when prices have fallen.
