Beowulf Mining on the Swedish news

02:00
SVT shows the huge deposit of Kallak and how it has run into some trouble with the Sami community. The deposit is worth about 50 billion crowns and growing as drilling progresses. Whether Jokkmokk Iron Mines will obtain the required premits to commence drilling is largely a political question, and it seems as though Jokkmokk citizens are positive while the Sami continue to show resistance in order to sustain their reindeer interests.

SWEDEN'S SAMI FIGHT KALLAK MINE PLANS

02:13
A British mining company is at the centre of a bitter dispute with Europe’s only indigenous people over its plans to drill for iron ore in the far north of Sweden. Around twenty thousand Sami live in Sweden. They’re part of an indigenous community stretching from Norway in the west to Russia’s Kola Peninsula. Sweden’s Sami have made a living from reindeer herding for thousands of years – but their traditional pasturelands are also rich with mineral resources. Eurasia Mining looking forward to producing first platinum within weeks

03:38
Eurasia Mining plc (LON:EUA) Managing Director Christian Schaffalitzky tells Proactive Investors that he can meet the terms of a new refining contract for its West Kytlim alluvial platinum project, producing 80 to 100 tonnes of platinum as the first phase of development. “It is not very difficult, we have been working for the last six weeks on setting up the mine and we should start production in the next few weeks, by mid-August” he says. Schaffalitzky says that mine will eventually be a ten year project and that Eurasia is working with a local civil engineering group who will provide all the equipment and invest the development capital. “They do it at their cost, and Eurasia in return receives 30% of the revenue and the contractor receives 70%. Our job is to monitor the mining, make sure the reserves are mined correctly and to reconcile the production against the actual platinum produced” he says.

Korea second least happy nation among 20 key nations

00:53
Korea has experienced rapid growth over the past few decades... and is doing extremely well, when it comes to things like,... exports, cutting-edge technology and the like. But economic development doesn't seem to match up to the nation's level of happiness. A survey conducted by Ipsos Mori, a leading market research company in the UK, found... that just 64 percent of Koreans said... they were happy. This placed Korea 19th out of the 20 countries surveyed. In the least happy country, Spain,... only 59 percent of people felt satisfied with their lives. Sweden topped the list with 88 percent saying they are happy. Canada and Australia ranked second and third, respectively.

CEO: Tierra Nueva MoU could boost the “regrowth” of Arian Silver

10:08
Jim Williams, chief executive of Arian Silver (LON:AGQ), says there are lots of opportunities in Mexico at the moment, particularly in Zacatecas State. Arian has signed a memorandum of understanding with private company Tierra Nueva Mining Limited (TNM) for a portfolio in Zacatecas, which includes a former mine and a number of gold and silver projects. Speaking to Proactive, Williams says: “I know the projects. In this climate the TNM deal of one properties, two properties or nearly all of them in due course could be a nice match with the regrowth of Arian silver.” But a deal is not guaranteed, and Williams adds that the firm may choose to pursue other ideas in the pipeline which “will set the foundation stone to give investors and potential investors some indication of what we will be doing in the not too distant future.”

Arc Exploration Limited (ASX:ARX) reported further highly encouraging gold results from an ongoing programme of trenching at its Baku Hill Prospect at Bima Project in Indonesia. The best result is 12m at 24.8 g/t gold that includes 3m at 64 g/t gold. Results so far at Baku Hill indicate high grade veins within a coherent gold-mineralised zone that is at least 300m long and approximately 100m wide, highlighting the bulk tonnage gold potential of the area. Globe Metals & Mining Limited (ASX:GBE) said that a limited rock-chip sampling program has identified numerous additional areas of heavy rare earth mineralisation at the Mount Muambe Fluorite Project in Tete Province, Mozambique. Many of the samples show high HREO grades and ratios of the sought after elements dysprosium (Dy2O3) and europium (Eu2O3). Results include: a peak value of 1.22% TREO, a peak value of 426ppm Dy2O3 and a peak value of 198ppm Eu2O3. The company is planning a significant REO exploration program planned for Mount Muambe in 2011. Energy Ventures Limited (ASX:EVE) has completed a new resource estimate for the Aurora uranium deposit located in southeast Oregon, USA. The Aurora resource estimate has more than doubled, now standing at 37.9 Mlb U3O8. The new resource is based on validated historical drilling, assay and radiometric logging data obtained by Energy Ventures. A diamond drilling programme is currently in progress to further validate the geology and resource model for the deposit and to obtain samples for metallurgical testing. Straits Resources Limited (ASX:SRL) said that Straits Asia Resources Limited (SGX:SAR) has been issued the Principle Licence on the Northern Leases at Sebuku in Singapore. The Northern Leases are a key part of Straits Asia's long-term strategy for mining its concessions at Sebuku. He was a major contributor to the revival of traditional British textile arts and methods of production. His literary contributions helped to establish the modern fantasy genre, while he played a significant role propagating the early socialist movement in Britain. Morris was born in Walthamstow, Essex to a wealthy middle-class family. He came under the strong influence of medievalism while studying Classics at Oxford University, there joining the Birmingham Set. After university, he trained as an architect, married Jane Burden, and developed close friendships with Pre-Raphaelite artists Edward Burne-Jones and Dante Gabriel Rossetti and with Neo-Gothic architect Philip Webb. Webb and Morris designed Red House in Kent where Morris lived from 1859 to 1865, before moving to Bloomsbury, central London. In 1861, Morris founded the Morris, Marshall, Faulkner & Co decorative arts firm with Burne-Jones, Rossetti, Webb, and others, which became highly fashionable and much in demand. The firm profoundly influenced interior decoration throughout the Victorian period, with Morris designing tapestries, wallpaper, fabrics, furniture, and stained glass windows. In 1875, he assumed total control of the company, which was renamed Morris & Co. Morris rented the rural retreat of Kelmscott Manor, Oxfordshire from 1871 while also retaining a main home in London. He was greatly influenced by visits to Iceland with Eiríkr Magnússon, and he produced a series of English-language translations of Icelandic Sagas. It shares land borders with Scotland to the north and Wales to the west. The Irish Sea lies northwest of England and the Celtic Sea lies to the southwest. England is separated from continental Europe by the North Sea to the east and the English Channel to the south. The country covers five-eighths of the island of Great Britain, which lies in the North Atlantic, and includes over 100 smaller islands, such as the Isles of Scilly and the Isle of Wight. The area now called England was first inhabited by modern humans during the Upper Palaeolithic period, but takes its name from the Angles, a Germanic tribe deriving its name from the Anglia peninsula, who settled during the 5th and 6th centuries. England became a unified state in the 10th century, and since the Age of Discovery, which began during the 15th century, has had a significant cultural and legal impact on the wider world. The English language, the Anglican Church, and English law – the basis for the common law legal systems of many other countries around the world – developed in England, and the country's parliamentary system of government has been widely adopted by other nations. The Industrial Revolution began in 18th-century England, transforming its society into the world's first industrialised nation.England's terrain is chiefly low hills and plains, especially in central and southern England. However, there is upland and mountainous terrain in the north (for example, the Lake District and Pennines) and in the west (for example, Dartmoor and the Shropshire Hills). The capital is London, which has the largest metropolitan area in both the United Kingdom and the European Union. England's population of over 55 million comprises 84% of the population of the United Kingdom, largely concentrated around London, the South East, and conurbations in the Midlands, the North West, the North East, and Yorkshire, which each developed as major industrial regions during the 19th century. The Kingdom of England – which after 1535 included Wales – ceased being a separate sovereign state on 1 May 1707, when the Acts of Union put into effect the terms agreed in the Treaty of Union the previous year, resulting in a political union with the Kingdom of Scotland to create the Kingdom of Great Britain. In 1801, Great Britain was united with the Kingdom of Ireland (through another Act of Union) to become the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. In 1922 the Irish Free State seceded from the United Kingdom, leading to the latter being renamed the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
