"It's been exceedingly difficult for advisors to outperform the market, so I think a lot of them are just basically saying, 'if you can't beat them, join them,' and I mean in the form of buying a lot more passive ETFs," Andy O'Rourke, Managing Director and Chief Marketing Officer for Direxion Investments, said at the Charles Schwab Impact Conference.

Top 3 Commodities ETFs for 2017

05:40
https://goo.gl/QPCkqk - Start earning with binary options like millions of traders do A lot of investors are hesitant to get into commodities, but today's commodities exchange-traded funds (ETFs) make this space accessible to just about every class of investor. Commodities tend to be very volatile, and the market over the past 12 months certainly reflects that. After a fairly hot streak last year, returns on the largest ETFs in this space have dipped into negative territory in 2017. (See also: Major Resistance Levels Suggest Commodities Are Headed Lower.) If you're not sure where to park your dollars, you have a lot of choices. There are ETFs that track a broad basket of commodities (like the PowerShares DB Commodity Index Tracking Fund), as well as funds that focus on a single type of commodity such as oil or precious metals. (See also: Hi Ho Silver! Hot Silver ETFs Soar Again.) These three commodities ETFs were chosen based on a combination of assets under management and performance. All year-to-date (YTD) performance figures reflect the period from Jan. 1, 2017, through June 16, 2017. All figures were current as of June 16, 2017. PowerShares DB Commodity Index Tracking Fund (DBC) Issuer: Invesco PowerShares Assets Under Management: $179 billion YTD Performance: -11.34% Expense Ratio: 0.89% DBC is the elephant in the commodities room – by far the largest ETF in terms of assets under management. It tracks an index of 14 commodities using futures contracts for exposure. It tackles the weighting problem creatively, capping energy at 60% to allow for more exposure to non-consumables such as gold and silver. The fund's large size also gives it excellent liquidity. DBC's one-year, three-year and five-year annualized returns of -7.38%, -18.91% and -10.80%, respectively, reflect the slump in the commodities market this year. (See also: DBC: PowerShares DB Commodity Tracking ETF.) iPath Pure Beta Broad Commodity ETN (BCM) Issuer: iPath Assets Under Management: $46.86 million YTD Performance: -6.51% Expense Ratio: 0.70% BCM picks futures contracts based on the Barclays Commodities Index, which is actually weighted based on liquidity and capped at 35% for commodities sectors and 20% for commodities groups. For that reason, energy is under-represented and precious metals are over-represented compared with other broad commodities index funds, in which energy can account for 65% or more. As currently constituted, WTI crude and gold are almost equal in terms of percentages in the fund's holdings (16% and 15%, respectively). One-year, three-year and five-year annualized returns for BCM come in at -6.73%, -14.69% and -8.89%, respectively. (See also: 5 Unique Pure Beta ETNs to Consider.) First Trust Global Tactical Commodity Strategy Fund (FTGC) Issuer: First Trust Assets Under Management: $146.7 million YTD Performance: -5.05% Expense Ratio: 0.95% FTGC is the only actively managed broad commodities fund. It is also structured a bit differently as a 1940 Investment Company Act open-ended fund. FTGC gains commodities exposures through i

No more lagging indicators, supply and demand imbalances are everything

08:59
- The imbalance of supply and demand is the only reason why price moves every market be it Forex, Stocks, ETFs, CFDs, Futures, Indexes or Commodities. - The greater the imbalance, the greater the move in price. Most traders are not aware of the power that trading a supply and demand trading strategy can have. - Supply and demand together with price action is one of the best edges you could ever possibly have. - You don’t need colourful and lagging indicators of which only tell you what has already happened. RSI, CCI, Bollinger Bands, EMA crosses, ATR, and a long plethora of indicators. No more abstract Picasso paintings on your charts. - Having a clean and uncluttered chart will help you make a trading decision much easier than a chart with colorful indicators. SUPPLY AND DEMAND AND A CLEAR CHART WITH THE PRICE AREAS WHERE THE BIG INVESTORS ARE PLACING THEIR TRADES IS ALL YOU NEED TO HAVE More information at http://www.set-and-forget.com

Top 3 ETFs for Long-Term Investors as of August 2017

06:21
https://goo.gl/QPCkqk - Start earning with binary options like millions of traders do Are you the sort of investor who embraces the buy-and-hold strategy, preferring to do your due diligence up front and then let the returns accumulate over time? If so, index-based exchange-traded funds (ETFs) may be a good vehicle for you. Even Warren Buffett knows it's hard to beat index funds. In fact, he made a point of requesting that 90% of the money he leaves his wife when he dies be invested in an S&P 500 index fund. (See also: Proof That Buy-and-Hold Investing Works.) Of course, you don't have to park all your money in an S&P 500 fund. In fact, most experts recommend some diversification. But as far as long-term investments go, indexed funds are an attractive and typically low-cost choice. (See also: Here's How to Build Wealth Like a Multimillionaire.) If you're doing some portfolio planning for 2017 and beyond, here are a few good bets for ETFs that work for long-term investors. All year-to-date (YTD) performance figures are based on the time period of Jan. 1, 2017, through August 3, 2017. Funds were selected based on a combination of performance and assets under management (AUM). All figures were current as of August 4, 2017. Vanguard Total Stock Market ETF (VTI) Issuer: Vanguard Assets Under Management: $81.96 billion YTD Performance: 11.07% Expense Ratio: 0.04% If you're not sure which index to follow, or you want to hedge your bets across a variety of sectors and market caps, this is the fund for you. As the name implies, the Total Stock Market ETF covers the entire domestic stock market, tracking the CRSP U.S. Total Stock Market Index. VTI is a balanced fund, with a good mix of mid- and small-cap equities in addition to blue chips. The median market cap is about $54 billion. You'll also see good sector diversification among the 3,528 stocks in its basket. VTI is an extremely efficient fund with a low expense ratio, which is perhaps why the fund has raked in nearly $10 billion in new assets since the end of 2016. Performance figures are steady and impressive, with one-year, three-year and five-year average annual returns of 17.29%, 10.61% and 15.08%, respectively. (See also: Is VTI The Best Index Fund?) SPDR S&P 500 ETF (SPY) Issuer: State Street Global Advisors Assets Under Management: $241.82 billion YTD Performance: 11.72% Expense Ratio: 0.09% This is the granddaddy of ETFs – the oldest and most easily recognized of the exchange-traded funds. It tops the list in terms of AUM and trading volume, making it appropriate for both tactical traders and buy-and-hold investors. The fund tracks the S&P 500, which is a group of equities from the U.S. large-cap space (although not always the largest) selected by committee. Technically, SPY is a unit investment trust (UIT), which means that the fund can't reinvest cash dividends between distributions, a minor detail that may slightly affect performance compared with the index. Regardless, this fund has respectable one-year, three-year and five-year performance fig

Intelligent Portfolio Diversification | Asset allocation strategies in stocks

Portfolio diversification is an important factor to profit from the stock market, but the traditional approach is counter intuitive to maximising results. In this video, Garry demonstrates the smarter way to diversify as part of your overall asset allocation strategies. To access the other videos in this series, visit http://specialistshareeducation.com.au and fill out the form. We promise to only deliver valuable training and information to teach you how to invest in stocks. Any advice in this video is general advice only. Neither your personal objectives, financial situation or needs have been taken into consideration. Accordingly you should consider how appropriate the advice (if any) is to those objectives, financial situation and needs, before acting on the advice. Garry Davis (AR No:317590) is an authorised representative of Primary Securities Ltd (AFSL No. 224107). Stock diversification is a common theme amongst investors, and with particular reference to the fund management industry, it generally breeds low performance. The smart way to carry out investment diversification avoids those pitfalls by not buying at the top and selling at the bottom, in other words not following the herd. Strategic asset allocation such as this gives you a much better chance to create above average returns consistently, but remember when you diversify your portfolio that you should always avoid poor quality stocks, and industries that are not in uptrend. The Risks of Investing in Inverse ETFs

10:00
https://goo.gl/QPCkqk - Start earning with binary options like millions of traders do Inverse exchange-traded funds (ETFs) seek to deliver inverse returns of underlying indexes. To achieve their investment results, inverse ETFs generally use derivative securities, such as swap agreements, forwards, futures contracts and options. Inverse ETFs are designed for speculative traders and investors seeking tactical day trades against their respective underlying indexes. Inverse ETFs only seek investment results that are the inverse of their benchmarks' performances for one day only. For example, assume an inverse ETF seeks to track the inverse performance of Standard & Poor's 500 Index. Therefore, if the S&P 500 Index increases by 1%, the ETF should theoretically decrease by 1%, and the opposite is true. Inverse ETFs carry many risks and are not suitable for risk-averse investors. This type of ETF is best suited for sophisticated, highly risk-tolerant investors who are comfortable with taking on the risks inherent to inverse ETFs. The principal risks associated with investing in inverse ETFs include compounding risk, derivative securities risk, correlation risk and short sale exposure risk. Compounding Risk Compounding risk is one of the main types of risks affecting inverse ETFs. Inverse ETFs held for periods longer than one day are affected by compounding returns. Since an inverse ETF has a single-day investment objective of providing investment results that are one times the inverse of its underlying index, the fund's performance likely differs from its investment objective for periods greater than one day. Investors who wish to hold inverse ETFs for periods exceeding one day must actively manage and rebalance their positions to mitigate compounding risk. For example, the ProShares Short S&P 500 (NYSEARCA: SH) is an inverse ETF that seeks to provide daily investment results, before fees and expenses, corresponding to the inverse, or -1X, of the daily performance of the S&P 500 Index. The effects of compounding returns cause SH's returns to differ from -1X those of the S&P 500 Index. As of June 30, 2015, based on trailing 12-month data, SH had a net asset value (NAV) total return of -8.75%, while the S&P 500 Index had a return of 7.42%. Additionally, since the fund's inception on June 19, 2006, SH has had a NAV total return of -10.24%, while the S&P 500 Index has had a return of 8.07% over the same period. The effect of compounding returns becomes more conspicuous during periods of high market turbulence. During periods of high volatility, the effects of compounding returns cause an inverse ETF's investment results for periods longer than one single day to substantially vary from one times the inverse of the underlying index's return. For example, hypothetically assume the S&P 500 Index is at 1,950 and a speculative investor purchases SH at $20. The index closes 1% higher at 1,969.50 and SH closes at $19.80. However, the following day, the index closes down 3%, at 1,910.42. Consequently, SH clos

How To Rebalance Your Mutual Fund Portfolio

03:34
The steps you need to take rejig or rebalance your portfolio of your mutual fund investments. Subscribe: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCQTqvgT_qzPZn1D1bHsxtKw?sub_confirmation=1 Share Video: https://youtu.be/a_4tOR-wjno Visit YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/FundooMoneyWorld Hello and welcome to FundooMoney, your 24X7 buddy for all your money matters. Over a period of time, as we invest in mutual funds, we end up building mutual fund portfolios. Often, we need to rejig the mutual fund portfolio after a major change in the market, persistent underperformance of an existing investment or spotting a new investment opportunity. How does an investor go about rejigging or rebalancing one’s mutual fund portfolio? We provide a brief primer on how to rebalance your mutual fund portfolio. When rejigging your mutual portfolio, you need to be guided by a basic understanding of asset allocation rather than misinformed opinion of others. Typically, two types of situations can spur you to rejig your portfolio or in technical parlance, portfolio rebalancing. When existing investments and assets appreciate significantly You may want to keep the proportion of your assets the same after a change in market conditions that alters it appreciably. Let’s assume that you had 80% of your investments in equity and 20% in debt investments like fixed deposits and debt funds. After a market upturn, if the ratio goes up to 90%, you might want to bring the proportion back to 80% by selling off some equity investments which are either not doing well or have their best behind them. The sales proceeds are then invested in debt investments to get the proportion back to the original. Experts will call this as strategic asset allocation. When new short-term opportunities emerge The second possibility is when you spot short-term opportunities and want to tap them. For instance, after the outbreak of global financial crisis in 2008, gold investments started doing well even as equity and debt investments lagged behind them. To keep the overall return from investments chugging along, you could have invested in gold exchange traded funds or gold ETFs offered by mutual funds. Of course, it was known that as the global economy would recover, equities will again do better than gold, as they have done historically. Hence, the stepped up gold investment opportunity was short-term one. These types of moves are not meant to alter your overall asset allocation strategy or strategic asset allocation, but to take advantage of emerging opportunities. These moves are called tactical asset allocation. Adjustments with sales, re-investments and fresh investments Depending on the situation at hand you can adjust your mutual fund portfolio with fresh investments or selling off existing investments and re-investing them in asset classes where you are less invested in. What is the overall logic for this? By doing this you ensure that your average annual return doesn’t fluctuate too much. An investment portfolio, growing well with relatively stable returns, helps you save much more in the long-term than a portfolio that touches the sky one day and plumbs the depths the other. We hope you found this useful. Do share with us and others on this channel your views on managing mutual fund portfolios by writing in the comments section.
