I am a big, big believer that things have power. Whether material possessions actually absorb and retain energy from the people and experiences around them, or if it is your own memories and feelings that give the object influence over you, I’m not sure.
But if your walls are lined with pictures of family members who you disdain, that is bad mojo.
That is why, like millions of other women, I decided to sell my engagement ring for hard cash.
I write about it here:
After researching my options, I actually sold my ring near me, I have learned that Worthy.com is really the best option for selling your engagement ring, loose diamond, estate and antique necklaces, bracelet, earrings and watches.
Unlike other jewelry buyers, Worthy is an auction site — a marketplace that attracts hundreds of bidders for each live auction, which drives the price of your ring up to the highest market price. Other sites, like WP Diamonds, can be reputable, but you rely on a single estimate from one jeweler to determine the value of your jewelry — NOT a GIA or IGI lab report, or the benefit of hundreds of buyers' bids.
Before you start your jewelry sales process, learn a little bit about the 4 C's, get an appraisal from a jeweler near you, and research your options.
Then check out Worthy.

**How much does Worthy take?**
Worthy takes up to 22 percent of the sale price.
They are very transparent: if they don't sell your item for at least the reserve price, they return it to you, free of charge, no questions asked.
Worthy will pay you $100 if you successfully sell your auctioned item to an independent jeweler for a price higher than Worthy was able to offer.
**What if I change my mind?**
You have a few options when selling your jewelry at Worthy.
Set a "reserve price."
The reserve price is the lowest price that you are committed to accepting for your valuable. If the leading bid at the end of the auction meets or exceeds this price, the sale is automatically approved. If the highest bid does not meet that reserve price, and you did not select the advance payment option, you can have your valuable shipped back to you fully insured, free.
**What's the big deal about GIA or IGI reports? **
Unlike a local jeweler, or a GIA-certified jeweler, sending your valuable to an independent, 3rd party laboratory that is globally recognized, as both GIA and IGI are, is the definitive information and market value about your jewelry. This certified report is yours to keep, filed indefinitely by GIA, and lends a huge measure of transparency and respect to the Worthy auction process — for both buyers and sellers.
I never recommend products or services that I don’t truly believe in. Seriously – I get asked to write about stuff all the time and turn down hard cash if I’m not feeling it.
